Re: Some interesting observations about collecting

I remember advising Colin Noble a charity shop in Dunfermline were selling Commando. He came back with many more, including non-Commando war libraries, Space Holiday Specials (which I was after) and the Red Alert wallet from 2000AD #3. All for a knock down price! D'oh!! Colin was the master of find...

Re: Some interesting observations about collecting

I think you’ve pretty much nailed it on the head! The one I’d add would be that 2000AD comics after the first 300 are on offer everywhere too.

According to Steve Holland's index, it was in Hurricane 19 December 1964. Thank Steve by buying his comic indexes at https://Bearalleybooks.blogspot.com
Thanks for that. I have the index already!

Re: Complete Collections

And another one completed. 3 separate purchases brought in the last 4 issues I needed for the complete set of 40 Top Secret Picture Library by IPC in the mid 70s. I’ve needed these 4 for ages and they all came up in the same week!

doesn't appear to be in 'Lion' or 'Eagle' (according to a couple of reference books I've just checked)
Thanks Richard. I’ve been assured it’s not Victor either.

Re: Complete Collections

Another set completed on the weekend, this time it is Weird Planets by Alan Class, as I found my missing #22 in a bundle on Ebay. My largest complete Alan Class set so far. I've got some way to go to complete any of the big 6 though!

Re: Graphic Novels

If I can suggest The Scorpion by Desberg and Marini? I think anyone would find them cracking entertainment. So, almost 10 years after this post, I accidentally came across Volumes 1 & 2 of The Scorpion and must agree, they are cracking entertainment! So much so, I immediately went online and bought...

Re: Complete Collections

I’ve finally found that pesky last issue to complete my Fleetway Super Library Secret Agent Series set of 26. I finally now have all 3 sets of the Fleetway Super Libraries. I’m looking forward to reading the last Johnny Nero story!
On to the next one now.

Re: Complete Collections

Yes it’s the series that Joe 90 merged into. I must admit that I got confused while collecting them as so many sellers didn’t realise there was a difference between TV Century 21 and TV21! All done now though, so on to the next set!

Re: My grandmother wrote for girls' comics in the 1950s-60s. Trying to find her work!

Peter Hansen says: I have the ledgers of work by women and men from the 30’s to the mid sixties! Only problem is that I am in Canada and my ledgers are in the UK!! 🤔☹️ I’ve asked him when he’s due back next and what comics the ledgers cover. Knowing Peter, it will be them all!

Re: My grandmother wrote for girls' comics in the 1950s-60s. Trying to find her work!

Two more experts have come back to me. Phil Ruston says: I'd have said that School Friend, Girls' Crystal, Girl (and maybe Bunty) are the only really likely candidates since any other girls' titles that were launched in the 1950s tended to have a Romance theme from the beginning. Also, the publisher...
