Re: What comics did you buy today?
Being a big Ally Sloper fan/collector I was over he moon to get 'Ally Sloper A Moral Lesson' published in 1873 and widely regarded as being the first British comic book. It contains the first collection of Sloper strips by Marie Duval taken from Judy between 1867 and 1872. Also got Ally Slopers Book...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Thanks Hawkeye. Yeah, I'll be honest. When I bought the comic recently totally forgot its significance. I only realised this when flicking through the pages to see the advert in question stating so. If you can recall, I wrongly stated issue #327 from 1948 was the first appearance of Biffo Bear when...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Sourced myself a nice snowcapped Xmas Beano comic no.325 from December 27th 1947 in VG cond. Also, coincidentally this is the very comic that first mentioned Biffo the Bear in an advert before appearing on the cover of issue no. 327 1948. 🙂 https://ci6.googleusercontent.com/proxy/A4mPxBuxSX-s61Fz-O...

Re: Max Miller
Hi Hawkeye, Definitely George Wakefield and then his son Terry Wakefield, after the formers death in 1942. Terry's style was very imitative of his father's and he often filled in for his dad even before his death. Between them the two Wakefields were very much the most familiar artistic face of Fil...
