Re: Ebay - you want how much for it???
I hope more people follow Phil like sheep thinking the bottom of the market has fallen out of old beano & Dandys cause I'll be there waiting... watching.. and being outbid as usual. Phil selling his collection has not put me off. I'm looking forward to more rarer items coming on the market at last, ...

Re: Ebay - you want how much for it???
I cannot remember the exact details but my mate Steve said a copy of the Beano sold for over £200 last week. It was the issue featured on the cover of the Bluesbreakers album featuring Eric Clapton. Even if it was the exact same copy I can't see it being worth that much. it was Phil Shrimpton's auc...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I decided to treat myself to the Dandy comic free gift, the 'Whirly Twirly' from issue #1663, 1973. After waiting many years for one to come up for sale, I decided it was a must buy for the collection! Saw that one. The seller had it listed as a 1960s free gift but I thought anyone putting in the r...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I have been trawling the charity shops as I need bookcases. I found no bookcases but I did find 3 Warren Comics from 1973, the programme from the 1978 Dudley D Watkins exhibition in Dundee, The St Trinians Story from 1961 and the Diamond Comics Art Catalogue from the 2006 September Auction from one...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
managed to win a bid on a framed Whizzer & Chips comic dated 25th Oct 1969. The seller only listed it as 'Framed Whizzer & Chips comic'.
So looks like I have picked up Whizzer & Chips issue #2 for £14.99
They claim it was framed years ago & they think it is complete. worth a try.

Re: Lord Snooty on the front cover of the Beano
As far as I remember, there is a 1951 Sports Day cover which has alot of the Beano people on it. Dennis is ontop of a flag pole escaping from his dad, its early as he doesn't have the stripped jumper yet. He also appeared in an early cover, maybe maybe mid 1950s and is being spanked by Biffo using a...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Thanks Lew! The description of it as a comic threw me for a while, but now I think about it I'm pretty sure I've got a few copies myself somewhere. Wish I'd picked up some Arthur Ferrier artwork when it was going cheap a few years ago! Yes, definitely not a comic but it did feature some short humou...
