Re: What comics did you buy today?
Well, from WHSmiths today, I picked up the new ish (#10) of Panini's Thundercats for my son only to find that it's got no comic story content at all! Just puzzles and posters - most disappointing
. I'll give it one more month to see if this is just a blip otherwise it's cancelled.

Re: Online comics and Apple
Well I can't say that I actually 'need' one but it looks cool and and a lot nicer for casual browsing, playing and reading digital mags and comics than booting up a laptop or sitting at a desktop. The price looks ok, too. Can't say I need 3G on it as it'll probably only use it at home over the wi-fi ...

Re: Buster Special 2009
I finally got this at the weekend and enjoyed reading through it. My complaints (apart from the only-one-part-of-the-story thing) is that, like all the others in the series, it really doesn't seem to have had any effort put into it at all. The paper stock's just all wrong and they really could have ...

Re: 45th Anniversary of TV21
I came along in '64 so I was a little young for TV21. I loved the Anderson shows, though so I might have had a few copies. I did get some issues of the later Joe90 comic which had the same newspaper format covers, though. I've got an old (old!) scrapbook full of bits of Joe90 cuttings from those ...

Re: Online comics and Apple
My current 160gb classic iPod has been nothing but brilliant for the 2 and a half years I've had it; no problems at all. My son's now using the 20gb it replaced which is also still going great guns some 5 or so years after getting it. Apple stuff isn't the be all and end all but I've found it very ...

Re: Online comics and Apple
As the iPhone screen is a little titchy for viewing a whole page there's a lot of experimenting with navigation and getting from one panel to the next with the current crop of digital comics providers. It'll be interesting to see if this 'motionising' (that's my word, wot I made up  ) of pages ...

Re: New Comic out....could this be a climpse into the future???
Hi all
Hope you don't mind me popping up and nattering a bit about my little comics project. It was great to get a little mention on John's site and the kind words here so I thought I'd just explain a little about the price/why it is what it is etc.
Firstly, please don't imagine that Smart Bomb is ...

Re: UK DC title?
Cool
Nice to know that my brain hasn't completely left the building yet. It was just one of those childhood things that always stuck in my mind. I was only 6 at the time but I remember the first issue getting bought for me by an older cousin.
Might have known it would be in Lew's blog

UK DC title?
Apologies if I'm being dumb and this is easily answered but I seem to remember a UK DC reprint title (a la Mighty World of Marvel) at some time (probably late 60s early 70s). The name Super DC sticks in my mind but I'm certainly not sure.
It can't have lasted long. Anyone remember?

Re: MARVEL HEROES Anyone bought it yet?
Thanks for commenting on my waffle Lew. You, also, make some good comments and although I was wrong to accuse the comic's staff of not caring (after all, who am I to know the ins and outs of how it's produced) I still stand by many of my comments. If the comic is intended to bring in younger readers ...

Re: MARVEL HEROES Anyone bought it yet?
Please don't get me wrong. I love the fact that it's original UK content and will always support that but that doesn't mean I'll forgive any shortcomings. It still needs to be good and I'm afraid I didn't really think Marvel Heroes was any good. The silly thing is that all it needs is a better ...

Re: MARVEL HEROES Anyone bought it yet?
My son's only just coming up to 6 so he's still a little young to cope with reading that sort of stuff on his own just yet. We try out a variety of comics from the Beano and other 'free gift heavy' current titles and we go through them together. For his age his reading is very good but I don't try ...

Re: MARVEL HEROES Anyone bought it yet?
This whole business about different stories for different ages is probably my biggest gripe amongst modern hero comics. I (like many here, I imagine) started with Marvel in the 70s when I was 7/8-ish with the UK reprints. These were, of course, 1960s stories and (seemingly) a lot simpler than modern ...
