Re: Beating Dyslexia with Comics!

Thank you.

I remember the walkman thing as a big thing in school at the time and my teacher had to by one out of his own pocket. a hefty wedge in the early 1980's.

not sure I could go round schools would end up killing one of the cheeky kids if they gave me to much lip. lol

Re: Beating Dyslexia with Comics!

I would say that the tittle is a little misleading. You don't beat Dyslexia you have it all the time. I am a Full card carrying Dyslexic and reading comics was a way I learned to read. When I was a kid I used to look at books with mainly text and the letters in the text used to jump around on the pa...

Re: How many issues of Charley's War are there?

I think there is some legal reason why the WWII story has not been re-printed but i could be wrong. I think the story starts pretty soon after the WWI sorry ended in battle. I only have a few issues with it in. It didn't last to long and we then went back to re-prints of the WWI story right up till...

Re: How many issues of Charley's War are there?

I've read volumes 1 and 2 of the definitive collection recently released by Rebellion. I will of course be buying #3 shortly. I can't seem to find out how many episodes are printed in these 3 books as I'd hate to think I'd missed some! I don't believe that the WWII storyline is in volume 3 so I'll ...

Re: Battle picture weekly - Terror Behind the Bamboo curtain

The intricacies of Charley's War pivoted a narrative on comics that was all but an alien process back in 1979. Not even 2000 AD, at this juncture, had yielded such a complex, ongoing series. After a long stint during the Battle of the Somme, Charley and the rest of his unit retired from the front f...

The New Eagle Dan Dare.

Afternoon All Last night I was doing a stock take for my web store and was looking at some copies of the New Eagle from 1982/83. As I do was having a little read along the way. I was hooked for a couple of hours. I forgot how much I like the Dan Dare strip that appeared in the early issues. The artw...

Re: Just a comment

I don't think that Forbidden Planet has much choice even with there large buying clout. I think they still use Diamond as there suppliers I once looked into them when I was made redundant from my retail managers job with allsports. I wanted to sell comics on a market stall to get some income coming ...

Re: Battle picture weekly - Terror Behind the Bamboo curtain

Have Just caught up on all of this great thread. I came to Battle in a round about way. I was a big fan of Charley's War and Johnny Red. but first started reading them in the Eagle in the late 80's early 90's after the 2 comics had merged. Both my favourite stories were both finished in the Eagle bu...
