Re: Beano summer special number 1 out now WHSmiths
WH Smith at Meadowhall, Sheffield, had about 8 or 9 copies in today. They were shelved next to the regular Beano comic.

Re: The DANDY is back!

Re: 'Classics from the Comics' - Not cancelled?
Just received the latest 'Classics from the Comics' (#175) and despite reports on the internet, there's no mention of it being the final issue. In fact, there's the usual ad for what's coming in next months issue, on sale November 10th!
Did DC Thomson actually announce the demise of 'Classics' or ...

Book Bargains
Been in 'The Works' at Meadowhall shopping centre (near Sheffield) today and they had 'Football's Comic Heroes' and 'When the Comics went to War' @ £4.99 each.
They also had the hardcover 'Bumper Book of Roy of the Rovers' @ £3.99 and softcover 'The Best of Roy of the Rovers' (I think this was ...

Re: Free comics in The Guardian
Comics always came out a day before their designated cover day. The reason that day was on the cover was that a few areas didn't actually get them until that day, but this became increasingly rare as distribution improved. However publishers still continued the practice until recent years.
I ...

Bound volumes of 1937 and 1938 books of Beano and Dandy idea
Well Lew, I had a feeling from reading some of the posts on the forum that this was not widely known. It could be that it's not 'official' policy, so if you contact them, it's probably best to point out first that you are a serious collector and that you want the copies only for your own colection ...

Bound volumes of 1937 and 1938 books of Beano and Dandy idea
Last year, I sent an e-mail to DC Thomson making a few suggestions regarding the idea of reprinted collections from their archive. I had a reply from B (Bill or Bob, sorry I can't remember) Moodie who liked my ideas but said they had no plans for any of them to be followed up. However, he inform me ...

British Comics Fanzine?
I'm probably telling everyone what they already know but there was an excellent magazine on British Comics called, I think, 'The Illustrated Comics Journal' that was published by Bryon Whitworth. Does anyone know if this is still published ? I lost the subscription details a few years ago when I ...
