Re: Help with some Girl numbers

Hi Ruth B, I've only just noticed your request. There was a time in the 70s and 80s when I used to hoover up comics/story papers indiscriminately. Eventually I settled on the output from D C Thomsons, ADVENTURE, The ROVER, BUNTY, JUDY, MANDY etcetera, but while I have never specifically thought of p...

Re: Blank comic book

a) A nice play on words there, Steve. b) I have avoided travelling in the Carbis Bay direction. To be fair I haven't needed to go out this last week apart from restocking the larder with the necessary foodstuffs from my local shops. c) The idea may well be tempting but despite my belief that our Pri...

Re: Blank comic book

If you have no idea where your 'blank animation panels' are, Steve, would you agree with me that you could be said to have a Blank Memory?

Those issues of The Hotspur are a real bargain, Steve. Well done! They are as rare as hens' teeth.

Re: Ebay - you want how much for it???

It's been working all week, was fine this morning, and earlier this afternoon, and indeed this evening. To make absolutely sure, I've just bought a novel from an eBay seller. Given that Kashgar resides in the frozen North, and Steve in London, perhaps it has something to do with the scorching sun cr...

BOYS' FAVOURITE LIBRARY by Edward R Home-Gall

I've been looking through my collection of issues of "Boys' Favourite Library" today. Unfortunately I don't have them all, but I would like to know, if only for my records, the titles of the numbers that I am missing. These are:- 2 : and every one from 22 onwards. Any help, from whatever source, wil...

Re: Our Colin (aka colcool007)

What more can one say? I can only echo Adam Eterno's comment, R.I.P Colin. We were friends at a distance, but friends remain friends wherever they may be.

Re: Our Colin (aka colcool007)

I am extremely saddened by this news. I have known Colin for many a long year, a friendship based on our mutual interest in story papers, especially those produced by D C Thomsons. We have not been in contact for some considerable time but I will never forget his and Karen's kindness in offering to ...

Re: Champ Comic 1984-85 'We Are United'

Several years ago, if I remember correctly, there was a fairly lengthy series of posts about 'We Are United' on this very platform. However, I don't seem to recall anyone commenting on its writers at that time, but I may be wrong.

I should think so!! There's neither reason nor justification for allowing yourself to be ripped off by greedy chancers, Steve.

Re: Jumping Frog

Memory didn't serve me too well in my last post. Probably due to his not having a particularly strong grasp of English, Pancho always said, "Lez went, Cisco!".

Re: Jumping Frog

As a youngster, one of my favourite TV series was 'The Cisco Kid'. It starred Duncan Renaldo as Cisco and Leo Carrillo as his sidekick, Pancho. Pancho was such a coward, and virtually at the end of every story, when the going was getting tough, he would whine, "Lez Go, Cisco!!"

Re: Some help with a Princess magazine

Just as an addendum on this thread, a simple Google search has revealed that Evonne Goolagong Cawley MBE (1972) was born in 1951 and was still alive on 27 June 2020. There is no contact number unfortunately but a bit more in-depth research by doddyf3 might reveal one.
