A new Someone Old, Someone New contribution.

Hey folks. Very pleased to say that there's another addition to my project of asking artists to depict a modern, inprint character meeting up with a classic, out of print one. This time its the turn of the brilliant Carl Critchlow, who i asked to use his fantastic Thrud The Barbarian for the modern ...

Cheap Thrillpower at The Works

Just a quick heads up that The Works are now stocking the really rather nice hardback Best Of Judge Dredd and 2000AD's for only £6.99 each

Re: Sound Of The Seventies

A great show, one i'm loathed to interupting - know i can "listen again", but resented getting to work yesterday and having to turn the car radio off

Strange New Worlds - Worthing

Had a lovely day at this small event down by the sea. Star Wars and Doctor Who were the main themes for this SF Con, but there was a smattering of graphic novel stands and one guy (don't remember his name) who was selling a lot of pre fifties UK titles. Main reason for going was that Pat Mills and G...

Judge Dredd vs the 70's

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/Mangamax/0clfffinis.jpg Here's a heads up for a new Blog of mine. Got a project underway where i ask artists for their takes on two characters i've chosen for them - one a classic, out of print character from 60's/70's British boys comics meeting a modern, in p...

Re: Is anyone still reading 2000AD?

I have 2000AD on subscription - but that's really on loyalty as i've been buying it from the start. Just lately its been a real slog, with just Judge Dredd being the draw but, even with him, its been hard going sometimes. But, Shakara is truely excellent and a throwback to when the title started and...

Re: Original 'Flesh' is coming back.

Thought it was a good start, with a proper feel for the original.
The dinosaurs were great - just a shame the art wasn't inked with a finer line.

Re: GARTH IS BACK

Well, that's a suprise to have a little bit of colouring in there - but i can see why they'd do that to make the strip fit in well with the others, and its actually quite subtle. Also nicely suprised to see its a non-collected tale so, like Stevezodiac, i'm going the same route of collecting and put...

Re: GARTH IS BACK

Indeed.
A good game to play is get the "Daily Mirror Of Garth" book and the Titan collections and compare and contrast which panels have been doctored to cover "bits" up or, in some cases, complete panels removed entirely

Re: GARTH IS BACK

Fantastic news of course, and its going to be great to have a daily fix just like back in the 70's but am wondering - if they are reprints, and of tales that have never been collected before, will we be seeing a graphic novel at some point?

Johnny Red: Falcon's First Flight

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/Mangamax/0jr.jpg Very surprised to see this in FP today, what with the massive delay and all. Its got £3.00 off but i would've snapped it up anyway as Titan have gone the Charlies War route of hardback, actual size and very clear reproduction. The cover is a b...

Re: Favourite Covers (and story illustrations)

By a HUGE majority, my all-time classic British cover. It was so unlike the other annual covers of the time, ditto the strips inside. It's the only annual that i own that i've kept from my childhood and not had to rebuy on eBay - hence the tatty state. And the reason i kept it is that i cherish it s...
