Re: The Beano Book 1940 Facsimile

I got the 1941 Beano book and it’s better than expected none of the original text has been altered as it is basically a straight scan from the original. The only niggle is that there is no Ping the elastic man on the spine illustration but that’s me just being critical all in all a brilliant reprint...

Re: 2018 Annuals

Peanut was included in the 2014 The Comics That Won The War classic volume that had a disclaimer saying that some strips where classed as unsuitable for today etc even the A-Z of laughs has a similar disclaimer so I dont see why Peanut is missing from the beano title tbh as it gives fair warning

Re: 2018 Annuals

Recieved the A-Z of laughs classic Beano and Dandy book and its not too bad even The Amazing Mr X is included and Peanut is still missing from the 1940s Beano masthead though

Re: Ebay - you want how much for it???

Yep the Dandy books are much cheaper nowadays as you can pick up a 50s annual for as little as £20 whereas 15 years ago you'd need to pay an extra 100 notes for the same book and it will be only a matter of time before the bottom falls out for the 40s annuals

Re: Ebay - you want how much for it???

The price for a softcover Oor Wullie annual #1 1941 around £7,000 and needs to be in very high grade for that price but £25k for one nope it wont sell. I don't even think the hardback version would achieve £25k and there are only one of those in existence in private hands! Edit; This is the previou...

Size compatrison the portfolio editions eprint top the DC Thomson reprint bottom and I must admit the DCT reprint looks authentic and the portfolio editions version is way off beam with the colour reproduction

Re: The Beano Book 1940 Facsimile

The portfolio editions reprint was an autorised product as the then Beano editor Euan Kerr signed all the limited edition certificates that came with the book. The one I won in the compal comics auction is also an authorised book being published by DCT themselves and only 5 where produced of the 194...
