Re: Sparky fun strips
To add a bit of data to Ray's fine work on artists for Sparky fun strips; I have discovered the true artists for the three 1968 Euro strips the comic ran - to Sept 69. As Ray disclosed "Big Billy Bigg" aka `Jerom` `was` drawn by Eduard De Rop. However, `The Snooks` aka `Familie De Snoek` was drawn b...

Re: In Search of "Clever Claire"
I know that both `Knockout` and later `Champion` ran a strip first titled "Dickie and Birdbath Watch the Woggle" (`Knockout`) re-titled to just `Jinx` in `Champion` I'll try to find out original European title. `Champion` also ran `Lucky Luke` but titled `Boy Kidd` but whether either of these were f...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
When I can afford it- at least one of the `Kari Lente` collections on sale on E.Bay! I never thought i'd ever come across any more of her adventures!

Re: In Search of "Clever Claire"
Thanks Bri! Thanks to Rikk on this thread I was able to track Bob Mau via the `Lambiek` site on facebook. They run bios on many artists and I found out that the `Clever Claire` strip as `Kari Lente` ran from 1962 to 19994. You can get the collected adventures on E.Bay.

Re: Will The Dandy ever return?
Well- Many people thought that `Dr Who` had gone for good in the 1990s- and `that` returned! Daresay it is probably more difficult with comics- but never say never!

Re: In Search of "Clever Claire"
Hi all! I'm still around! Yes! "Clever Claire" `was` drawn by Bob Mau. It`s originally title is `Kari Lente` and it began in `Gazet Van Antwerpen` on 12 July 1962. It ran to 1994 in various European magazines. You can buy the `albums` as they term them; on E.Bay. So good to finally track this strip ...

Re: Search for Story in Annual
It means sloppy writing. Someone came up with an idea for a story but they couldn't be arsed to give it any credible denouement.

Luckily-I still have that edition (31 Aug) of the Beano where Gnasher debuts. He looked a bit different at first.

Les Barton (I.Spy) even drew one episode - he drew a `Bad Penny` episode too!

Halfway through 1970 the `Teacher` changed from the goofy looking character in Mortar-board to grumpier looking fellow `sans` headgear-anyone else notice this?

Re: Ebay - you want how much for it???
Lew! Some `sellers` just hope that some buyers have more money than sense! There is a seller now on E.bay who has been putting up a 1960s `Beezer` with `Spinner` gift that he's been putting on for at least three years now!! He's reduced price (to £280) from its £400 plus when first put there-but he ...
