The 300th issue of Egmont's Toxic is out now. Quite an achievement for a kids' magazine these days to last so long. It started in 2002 and is still going strong. More info at my blog:

Yes, they're not that rare. They turn up on eBay fairly often.philcom55 wrote:I picked one up for 5p in a charity shop last year!

Re: Ebay - you want how much for it???
I know the Odhams comics are popular currently but this is silly! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FANTASTIC-Comic-NO-1-first-edition-1967-THOR-ULTRA-RARE-superhero-DC-MARVEL/282797541368?hash=item41d80c07f8:g:vswAAOSwaq1Z4oHM It does look to be in nice condition though, but I'm skeptical that it's been ...

Re: Hotspur - The Red Knight
Re. The Red Knight. I think I've worked out the issues concerned. The first story starts in Hotspur # 493 and ends in #502. 2nd. story starts in #503, ends #508 3rd. story starts #509, ends #514. As the original albums had 34 pages of story, I think DCT have used 3 successive albums but might, actu...

Re: Boys Adventure Comic blog
He was such a lovely guy to meet and yet there were only about 9 of us in the audience for the launch of 'Marney' - for shame! I don't recall Starblazer or Football PSM as a child so I'm guessing the distribution didn't make it is as far south as Lahndan (as they say on EastEnders) They were defini...

Insane price. I bought the first two years of Tammy recently for less than a pound an issue in total.colcool007 wrote:And here is the latest optimist on Ebay wanting a very fine price for an incomplete run of Tammy.

Re: Blimey! Blog Updates
Complete with the obligatory name from the Newsagent! Yes, I used Photoshop to lift it from an old 1966 Beano I had, so it's actually an authentic newsagent's writing. :) I know a lot of collectors don't like to see that writing, but I love it as it gives the comic more cultural significance as som...

Re: Nipper collected
I always wondered why I preferred fleetway picture libraries to Commando and then, many years later, realised it was because they were hand lettered. Hand lettering gives a warmth to the strips. I remember in my youth having a trial as a letterer for Fleetway. They said they'd call me but never did...

That's usually the case. Same applies to our UK editions of Asterix, Tintin, and Nemi. It wouldn't take too long these days using computer fonts.stevezodiac wrote:Has someone had to re letter every word balloon?
I'll add my vote for a Rebellion Nipper collection of the early material too!

Re: Just a comment
As for British comics, I was in a couple of WHS shops before Christmas and apart from the American reprints - which are much better value than the original floppies - there was only 2000AD and a JD book, neither of which are of any interest to me , a bit like koollectablz. No Commando to be found t...
