Re: cover artist

The Hotspur 1975 is definitely Ian Kennedy. As for the other two its difficult to say. The 1964 Tiger cover looks like a bit of a composite some of which may be the work of artist J H Lynch. As for the 1964 Lion I'm tempted to suggest Graham Coton. The 1964 Lion is interesting as it includes a love...

Re: cover artist

Thanks, Phil. Here are a couple more: Tiger annual 1964 (Best pic I could get of it): http://books.littleoak.com.au/boys_annuals/tiger/tiger.htm and Lion annual 1969: http://books.littleoak.com.au/boys_annuals/lion/lion.htm Also the 1964 Lion on the same page. I'd guess maybe Geoff Campion for '69. ...

cover artist

Can anyone tell me who this cover artist is, from the Hotspur book 1975: http://www.26pigs.com/Image_search.php?Ref_ID=54002&start=0&title=Hotspur I would guess Ian Kennedy, but maybe the figures are a bit too fluid for him? I will have another couple of annuals later, if I can find links. Cheers. G...

Re: FOOTBALL SEASON 2010/11

I think a good stable World Cup with good infrastruture, good policing, great grounds & a country with money to spend would have been a best option for this one. Agreed. Two bizarre descisions from fifa. Quatar? Wtf? No footballing history, a population of just over 1 1/2 million, and going to have...

Re: FOOTBALL SEASON 2010/11

Did anyone see the score in Glasgow today? Celtic 9-0 Aberdeen! You don't see a team get thrashed by that margin very often. I think it's happening more often! PSV slaughtered Feyenoord 10-0 in the Dutch premier league last weekend (a league that is at least as strong as the spl, if not stronger). ...

Re: A couple of illustrators

Thanks for all the help so far, everyone. Here are two more pieces by the unnamed first artist above. I though it might be easier to identify him from his figure drawings.

Ring any bells?

Re: Identify the artists

Hope you all haven't given up yet! This is the last piece I am going to try to identify from the TV21 annual. It's from a story called The Fear Makers. Any ideas as to the artist?

Re: A couple of illustrators

The 'DCE' signature is definitely Derek Charles Eyles. I don't recognize the other one though - can you say where it appeared? - Phil Rushton Hi Phil, thanks for that. Found loads of stuff about him on the net. He's definitely the man. Do the last two links in my first post above work? If not, coul...

A couple of illustrators

Can anyone i.d. the following artists. Both pieces are signed with initials, but I can't place who they belong to. Take a look and see if they are familiar. (Both pieces from the fifties). OpCat1 (615x800).jpg sig1.jpg sig2.jpg Well, one of the pieces was too big, so I just added the signature (sig1...

Help identify the album

I'm trying to remember an annual I had in the early/mid seventies. The only thing I can remember about it was it had a two page frontispiece showing the battleship Tirpitz under attack. I think they reused the piece from the Eagle below, only with a closer crop and perhaps reversed. If they didn't r...

Re: Identify the artists

Top one: Richard Jennings. Thanks for that, Raven. Would he have written it as well, do you think? I don't know, but he did write scripts in the Sixties. I'm not sure if he ever wrote and drew the same strips or kept both separate. He drew an Eagle strip 'Island of Fire' in 1962 and I wonder if 'Vo...
