Re: Artist id?

Many thanks, Felney. I don't have many Commandos, but Mr. Livingstone appears in quite a few of them.

Re: Favourite Covers (and story illustrations)

I'd hazard a guess at either Leo or Ted Rawlings for the Wizard cover. Were they brothers? Nick Fury #1 would probably be my favourite Steranko cover. The two covers he drew for the 1983 Archie re-vamp of the Fly are suitably heroic, and probably more than the Fly deserved. Here's issue 2: http://ww...

Re: Rugby world cup.

Wales were fantastic. France never looked like scoring a try in the second half. I have to say I don't think this format has been successful if the objective is to find the best team in the world. There would need to be more match-ups between the big three southern hemisphere teams and the best of t...

Re: Comics UK - Version 2 (Finally)

The new site looks really good. I look forward to uploading some (hopefully useful) covers. Well done to everyone involved. Site much appreciated by this user.

Re: Favourite Covers (and story illustrations)

It's not Ian Kennedy or Keith Shone. The faces are all wrong for his style. I am thinking it could be Watson, but I haven't got his style burned into my brain yet. I'm leaning more towards Jim Watson, having just looked at his work here (especially The Heavy Mob piece): http://britishcomicart.blogs...

Artist id?

This is an artist whose style I recognise from many commandos back in the seventies. Can anyone name him, please.

Cheers. Gordon.

Re: Favourite Covers (and story illustrations)

This is the image I tried to upload last time: wizard7-7-73.jpg I still think it's Kennedy, but the content makes me think it could be Watson, who seemed to do quite a few stories with naval subjects (at least, he did a run on Drake of Malta in Warlord). Both images are covers, and both illustrate t...

Re: Favourite Covers (and story illustrations)

Here's one from the front cover of The Wizard (dated 15/12/1973) I wanted help with. It looks like Ian Kennedy, but could also be Jim Watson. What does anybody else think? I wanted to add another, but it got turned down because it was over 300kb -- is there anyway around this? It's not always possib...

Re: Rugby world cup.

So it's going to be: Ireland v Wales England v France South Africa v Australia and New Zealand v Argentina. I'd hate to have to call any of those except the last one. The way they awarded points during the group phase made for an exciting last round of matches. France, with just two wins, snuck into...

Tin-Tin

He's been in the news a lot lately. First, the movie, which looks really good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ua_4ajpP58 Second, the court case: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Zc7fCjrA6I Seems rather pointless trying to sue something almost eighty years old. Shouldn't books that were "of their tim...

Re: Ron Embleton in Rover, 1957

Thank you for sharing the first episode and the publication details. I had no idea the story was about Steve Larrabee. He starred in some older strips, from another publisher, as well. The only information I had came from the Embleton-biography by Wright & Ashford (BMC-216, 2002). I had to do with ...

Re: Rugby world cup.

Ireland's big problem seems to be maintaining focus against the lesser teams. The great result against Australia does not guarantee they will top the group. I expect a tough match against Italy. I thought Wales were in the group of death, but beating Samoa has probably put them through -- unless Sam...

Sad news indeed. He seems to have worked all over the place and in many different genres. I don't suppose anyone can point me to a checklist of his work?

Re: Football season 2011/12

I won't be watching any football until after rugby world cup, but I'll make a few predictions: Liverpool to finish in top four. Tottenham's star will wane, but they might win some silverware somewhere. Without Fabregas Arsenal will either implode (not top four) or win the thing (bit of a cheat, that...
