Re: What comics did you buy today?

Flowers and Trees (Directed by Burt Gilett) was made in 1932, and was by no means the first colour cartoon (it was the first three colour Technicolor cartoon, however) There had been colour cartoons before that (Ub Iwerks' 'Fiddlesticks' and Walter Lantz's King of Jazz sequence for the movie of the ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Today, I bought a six month subscription to both The Beano and The Dandy , so that I'm no longer searching for either title here in my neck of the woods. (it has been fruitless trying to buy it here, anyway.) See the post on my blog here for the fun I had searching for the Beano and the Dandy while ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

I struck an issue of BeanoMAX, Issue 46 while on holidays in Melbourne (still here till Monday, mind)

Seeing that the Beano and the Dandy go on sale here today, I'll see if I can strike them in my travels today. (fingers crossed!)

Re: What comics did you buy today?

I recently picked up a couple of issues of Wow! (5 issues) Although this came out after my reading period of 1974 to early 1982, it is part of my plan to pick up odd issues of comic titles that were released before and after my reading period. I plan to pick up a few more pre-1974 and post 1982 issu...

Re: A question for you all

When I originally collected comics as a kid, I would have them for close to about a year after release before I had to have a regular "clearout" (no recycling back then for us.) (1974-1982) Today, since I started to collect again, I have ended up buying a sampling of the comics (mainly IPC/Fleetway)...

Re: 'widescreen' comics: original-format BEEZER and TOPPER

Here's the first of two I have today... for the first time in colour in nearly 46 years (46 years this coming week  ), here's the world's worst bandit Figaro, as it appeared in the Topper 9/1/65 http://images.brucelaing.id.au/dct/topper/f/figaro19650109.jpg and as a bonus, an episode of The U...

Yeah, I'm now starting to think of Greedy Pigg, especially after making his comeback in Lew's recent Kid Cops strip.
