Re: Bumper book of Battle

Got mine delivered today from Amazon. I had a delay on delivery because my order was so old my credit card details had changed in the meantime! I paid £4.99 for mine so I am thrilled with what I have received.

Well that article did not start with BIF POW at least. They still managed to leave out the hyphen is Spider-Man though.

Re: Car Boot sales

I regularly mooch about my local car boot looking for annuals and such like. Most Beano type annuals tend to average about £1 each but some sell for 50p if you are lucky. It is suprising how much some people think the stuff they have is worth though. I often enquire about some tatty comic or annual...

Alll the cool stuff is indeed available but the format is the thing I like about the case file books (I mean by that of course that they are cheap :D ).

Re: IF the Dandy & Beano merged...

We could run a book on when it'll happen. Beano & Dandy - isn't that how we already refer to them? I could see a bright future for the Beano (and Dandy and all old DC Thomson characters) in a mix of online publishing, books and spin-offs. But it would need someone in DC Thomson who cared and was ab...

Robo-Hunter Droid files - Great news.

I am thrilled about to see that Sam Slade Robo hunter is to be collected in case file format. I notice that Judge Anderson is also getting one. Now if only they would get around to Rogue Trooper! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Robo-Hunter-Droid-Files-Vol-1/dp/1906735212/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=12488...

Re: Breaking news: Marvel Comics acquire Marvelman

I read this a few days ago so I may have jumbled it in my head a bit but I was pretty sure that what Dez Skinn sold to McFlarlane was the rights (that he did not actually own) to Marvel Man and the design of the updated costume. Not sure how that came about but that is how I remember it.

Re: Breaking news: Marvel Comics acquire Marvelman

The story is sadly not that cut and dried. Marvel can now do new stories. Neil Gaiman may even be able to finish his work on the book but as yet the MM(80's version) Logo is probably still owned by Todd McFarlane and Alan Moore's work is still a sticky wicket. It should be pointed out that as far as...

Re: Alternate Perceptions

Anyone you know who's not very well educated in the world of Comics? I can remember somebody saying that he enjoyed reading Beryl the Peril "From the Buster..." Once on a programme on the Radio, someone once said "You know the Numskulls, from the Dandy comics..." The only thing that bugs me about p...

Re: What's the most you've spent on one comic?

For actual comics I don't think I have spent more than around £15.00 I have gone a bit mad on some of the Absolute and Omnibus hardcover editions that Marvel and DC are want to produce these days though. they tend to go for between £30 to £50 each.

Re: how to earn a million bucks a year drawing cartoons.......

Back in the 90's Image, Marvel & DC were making an awful lot of money for the top creative teams they employed (and were owned by) John Byrne was earning over half a million a year for some time and Rob Leifeild was earning double that for a while too and he couldn't even draw well! Todd McFarlane, ...

Re: Anybody found any bargains in unexpected places?

The Marvels in question, from memory were awful titles like Rom Spaceknight, Supervillian team-up and Omega (which I never liked - some did) not a great time IMHO for US comics in general. They pulped those great comics?? awwww still it was the war I'll allow that lol :( I would have been heart bro...

Re: Ron Smith

I agree with all the above comments. For an old dude he had no trouble drawing far out and imaginative modern looking sci-fi figures his stuff was as fresh as a daisy to me. I find it so sad that he has no online presence at all. He is a British gem that seems to have been largely ignored when in re...
