Re: Is this A E Allen?
I think it was through the Book Palace that I came across the name Graeme Thomas more than ten years ago, so any error seems to have originated with them (and they're notorious for not making corrections even after they've been given documented proof of a mistake on their site). For what it's worth ...

Re: Is this A E Allen?
The A E Allen identification does seem to be pretty widely confirmed, not least on the Lambiek website. The mention of Graeme Thomas confused me for years too but, unless Tammyfan is right about them being different names used by the same artist, I'm now inclined to think that the latter is just a m...

Mike Noble RIP
So sad to hear that Mike Noble, one of the very best and most loved of all British comic artists, has just passed away.

I'm pretty sure the Conway Cousins is drawn by Eric Parker Steve.

Re: Crikey! is back
It's understandable that people should feel a bit sensitive about magazines they've poured so much time and effort into, but to be fair to Robbie he only said that he personally found Crikey to be "slightly disappointing".

Re: Phoenix's Future Plans
Interesting to see these two items in the current Compal auction. I don't think I've ever come across Mascot before!

Re: When did The Happy Days End?
I'm also in complete agreement about the possibility of a publicly accessible archive of British comic art being established. As I understand it Pete Hansen, who bought most of IPC's surviving artwork and has a fabulous collection of comic memorabilia acquired over many years, hopes to create a muse...

Re: When did The Happy Days End?
Incidentally, it's worth noting that Wilson also drew a full-colour version of 'Lassie Come Home' for Princess Tina during 1969 so it seems unlikely he'd have had time to produce a new Happy Days strip every week as well. Here's an example of his original art for that series, also from my own collec...

Re: When did The Happy Days End?
On the Pixie stories Goof I think I can confirm your suspicion that they were newly drawn for that publication as I've just found a couple of pages in Wilson's later style which also feature that distinctive header space, as well as having 'Pixie no.19, Oct 28 1972' written in the margin. What's mor...

Re: When did The Happy Days End?
I do like Wilson's art, and it's fascinating to see how his style evolved over the years. Until a few months ago Phil Clarke had virtually ALL the Happy Days artwork for sale in a pile several feet high, but I seemed to be the only one who ever bought any. Now it's all been donated to a museum or un...

Re: When did The Happy Days End?
While I'm still working my way through several hundred issues of Princess and Princess Tina to check for reprints of Happy Days stories I can at least confirm that some stories WERE reprinted based on a page I just noticed in my collection of original art. As you can see from the marginal notes at t...

Re: When did The Happy Days End?
Here are the first two pages of 'Sally's Space Ballet' from Princess Picture Library #81 - though in this case I don't recognize the artist at all. It's interesting that whenever Sue Day encountered fantastic elements like flying saucers there always turned out to be a down-to-Earth explanation, but...

Here are the first two pages from 'Showboat Sally' - almost certainly drawn by R B Davis I'd say.
