Re: June fortnightly in 1974?

Back to the original post question, Look-in was approximately fortnightly in early 1974 owing to strikes (issues were undated during this period) and there was further action at the end of the year/beginning of the following year, with the result two whole issues were never published.

Re: Princess/Alice in Spaceland

Yes. He also provided the rather 'cute' illustrations for Princess's serialization of 'The Hobbit'. It's interesting that the writer Mary Patchett was probably best known for children's stories set in her native Australia. Her book 'Dingo' was serialized in early issues of Look & Learn. She did als...

Re: Princess/Alice in Spaceland

I've uploaded a high-res scan of one of the more dramatic 'Alice in Spaceland' episodes to Sendspace. Anybody who wants to should be able to download it from this link: https://www.sendspace.com/file/2p2jck While the possible extinction of all life on Earth might seem a serious subject I think ther...

Long shot but... identify the Diana girl?

I acquired a load of Diana comics from the 1960s a while back, and been sorting through them. Around 1967, when they started to use photos on the cover, one girl in particular seemed very prominent on many of them. I presume she was the daughter of the photographer, but I wondered if anyone here wit...

Re: Help with another unidentified artist

Perhaps the artist is not Torregrosa but... Why do you think it is Richardson? I don't think so. The style is different. Must be another artist. I agree with Antoniomn, doesn't quite ring as John Richardson to me either. I used to have his studio brochure and he shows his different styles from real...

Re: Jim Watson

Jim was obviously very influenced by Frank Bellamy's Eagle strips about Churchill and Montgomery. To my mind he produced some of his best work in this vein for IPC's short-lived digest magazine True War. Oddly enough the Illustration Art Gallery are currently selling this page as a KEITH Watson ori...

Re: Help with this artists

Ruth, you couldn't scan a bit bigger could you? Specifics of style can be hard to determine, especially when a strip has been coloured in production for the European market. The second reminds me a little of Peter Kay, who did a lot of work - including may covers - for Mandy in the UK. But because o...

It's for someone researching the strip. She read them all at the British Library and has a couple of issues, so any would be nice to have. :)

Princess/Alice in Spaceland

Does anyone have any issues of Princess comic from 1965/66. Looking for decent scans/photos of Alice in Spaceland, please?

Re: Tops/ TV Tops.

I have a fairly comprehensive though regrettably not complete run. Possibly competition to Look-in though it wasn't quite as television based until mid-run (1982-83) when 'TV' was seemingly unofficially added to the masthead, to disappear again towards the latter issues. Notable for having The Profe...

Re: Q's about Ron Smith, Tony Coleman.

Nope. :) This is what I posted about it in 2008: Having only just read my copy one thing is really bugging me. The cover for 2000AD prog 374 is reprinted twice, in colour, over one and a half pages to represent Ron Smith's work on Judge Dredd. Unfortunately, even though it seems to be signed by Ron...

Does anyone know if there is a comprehensive index of the Alan Class comics? A friend of a friend (seriously!) is trying to track down some strips but doesn't want the expense of buying randomly to find them...

Re: Q's about Ron Smith, Tony Coleman.

Another option is the Book and Magazine Collector Sept 2008 issue, which also carries a Ron Smith interview. This interview also has an extensive (but probably not complete), listing of the strips that Smith worked on at Thomson's. Am I the only one who has noticed the massive faux pas in this issu...

Re: Comics/Issues That Never Got Published

Didn't Look-In carry TV schedules? Those would serve to date the issues. These issues, owing to delays etc, didn't carry listings in them as there was a good chance they would be out of date by the time they were printed/on sale. In 1979, ITV was off the air for a period of months owing to a strike...
