Re: What comics did you buy today?

Mad Magazine No. 541. I bought Mad a few times way way back and used to like it. I must admit, I still prefer it to Viz . I'd agree with you on that. I loved it back in the 70s but never really got into Viz. MAD is THE greatest satirical publication ever, anywhere, in my view: totally radical for i...

Re: Scouse Mouse / Ace comics

The issue of Ace that I have doesn't even have an issue number on it, so I'd be curious for a bit more information as well.

Re: Rebellion acquire Egmont's archive of strips and charact

This is DEFINITELY exciting :D

An affordable Hookjaw collection, "The Collected Oink" (probably titled The Whole Hog?), all that sort of stuff... Maybe even a "new" Big Comic Annual?

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Had a day out in Manchester on Friday, and came back £23 lighter and with this lot: -The new issue of Mad (mostly awful nowadays but worth the £3.25 for Tom Bunk's double page spread of madness) -Mad: Cover to Cover (the first 400 covers with lots of fancy background info, very nice) -Dandy Beano: T...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Issue 1 of Nasty Tales arrived this week, only for me to realise I already had it, whoops...

Not EXACTLY comics, but I also got 30 issues of Fortean Times from 1998-2000 for £14 which cheered me up a lot. Each of those has a Hunt Emerson page or two so they sort of count ;)

Re: 2017 Annuals

Nice to see a fairly original cover for the Dandy annual this year - the last few years have been predictable as anything (Here's Dan eating a cow pie, again, or dancing with a bear, again). I know times have changed and it's mostly aimed at the nostalgia market these days, but my nostalgia for the ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Sh*t The Dog poster issues 1 to 4 Nice, on the lookout for those myself :) Went to Glasgow last week and met up with a few folks from the Glasgow "scene" - Adam Smith, Rob Miller and Frank Quitely (didn't know it was Quitely until after I'd left though!). They kindly gave me a few freebies too: -Th...

Re: What's the most you've spent on a comic/collection?

£42 on a near complete run of Zap Comix (all but the fifth issue at the time) - worth every penny :D Most on a single comic I think was £27 - for the one issue of Chill . Frustratingly, I'd assumed my original copy had been thrown away by my mum at some point, until last Summer when she pulled a car...
