Re: Khaki Shorts (Glasgow Humour Comics) collection out now!

I will happily vouch for the brilliance of this book, probably my favourite "thing" from 2015...

See what it's like on the inside in this review of mine:

Wish Lists...

How's this then? We all put up lists of what we're after that's eluded us for some time, and we can all help each other out by keeping a look out at comic fairs, charity shops, car boot sales or even online and suchlike? We might even have what folk are after in our own collections... I'll start wit...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Somebody ought to publish a real children's book called 'Hard Sums' (genuine maths but with humorous illustrations) - I bet it'd sell like hot cakes, and could do for Mathematics what the 'Horrible History' books do for History! :) Love it :D And a canned drink called "Fizzy Pop" while they're at it.

Similar story... Empire Exchange in Manchester has six or seven boxes full of 2000AD comics, just grab an armful and the guy usually says "Call it £2" or something.

Re: What Comics Do You Get Regularly

That's been the case for years. When their business partnership broke up, both Nick Landau and Mike Lake retained the use of the name 'Forbidden Planet'. Nick's shops have the rocket logo, and Mike's are called Forbidden Planet International with a different logo design. FPI also own some shops tha...

Re: What Comics Do You Get Regularly

Viz is the only one I get every issue of nowadays, and even that one I'm considering stopping... It hasn't been funny for about two years now (yes, THAT old chestnut!), but it's been a part of my life for so long now that I don't think I'll be able to stop. Always on the look out for other new stuff...

Something about the public domain Communist superheroine comic Octobriana... Well, a new book that's out that tells you everything you'd ever need to know about her: http://twoheadedthingies.blogspot.co.uk/2015/12/progressive-political-pornography.html There's some graphic images in there, but they'...

Re: 2015, a good year for collecting comics?

No idea at all - got a lot of comics this year, and the online purchases should be easy enough to figure out, but all the ones picked up in shops and fairs and so on, plus freebies sent to me by various folk... It'd take a long time to figure out.

I shall resolve to keep track in 2016. Maybe.
