Re: What comics did you buy today?
Bought something I've been wanting for a long, long time but haven't seen up for sale - the Whizzer and Chips Winter Special. Very happy with it, and also probably the first comic I've bought in over a year - maybe even two. Can't wait for it to arrive. That’s so special that you’ll have to make su...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Yesterday I received over 450 UK comics from the sixties and early seventies from eBay for £150.00. Three large bags full. I've only been through one bag but already a nice selection including lots of Summer Specials including Beano and Dandy SSs from 1970 to 1974 (ten in all) plus Cor!! number 1. ...

Re: Rebellion Trigan Empire
The art is amazing so the stories would really have to be something special. I only came across the Trigan Empire a year or so ago and really enjoyed it but there are stronger storylines. I'll be buying the set too though!

Re: Heroic Adventure Library - Pearson - 1964
The printed Comic Book Price Guide (Duncan McAlpine) 1996-1997 says 1 = Gallant Crusaders and he knew of a number 2 but not whether there were any more. The online version - much more recent - says he knew there are 5 issues but you'll need a registered account to learn more. Does anyone here have ...

Heroic Adventure Library - Pearson - 1964
This was a very obscure set that so far I have only seen 8 copies of which I have two. I remember Steve Zodiac saying he picked up a different copy some time ago as well. GCD has images of all 8 here: https://www.comics.org/series/67944/covers/ My query is regarding which comic was the first issue. ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
When these were first published we made quite an extensive list of corrections of the errors these books contained on this site. Much to the annoyance of one of the writers if memory serves. I just looked it up: http://comicsuk.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2967&hilit=Football%27s+Comic+Book+Heroes

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Just arrived in the post - Football's Comic Book Heros. The book has been around since 2009 and I don't know why I've never seen it before until last week on ebay. I can't wait to read it. There's Billys Boots, Limp along Leslie, Roy of the Rovers, Raven, Dozy Danny etc etc and a host of wonderful ...

At some point, I want to get the first couple of years worth of Battle Picture Weekly before it became Battle-Action . I've just noticed this on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Battle-Comic-Picture-Weekly-Issue-4-and-Issue-11-to-56-NM-Condition/113727088474?hash=item1a7aa9a75a:g:OT4AAOSw~CRcvzqx

Fair enough, it must be a new one as I don't remember one being out there. I thought the nearest one would have been in Southampton.Phoenix wrote:The one nearest to Paultons Park.Adam Eterno wrote:Which Holiday Inn did you stay in?
If you ever go again, Romsey is very close and has some lovely pubs!

Re: Phoenix's Future Plans
It's a great place for kids. It's less than 20 minutes from me and I've lost count of the number of family and friends who have come to visit with littleuns over the years and we've all ended up there. I sometimes wonder whether the purpose of the visits was really to see me and my boy or just to h...

Re: Phoenix's Future Plans
The main point of the visit was to take the girls to Paultons Park in Southampton, where 'Peppa Pig World' is situated. It's a great place for kids. It's less than 20 minutes from me and I've lost count of the number of family and friends who have come to visit with littleuns over the years and we'...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Someone has issues 1-52 of Tiger on eBay but it isn't me. I'd sell the first ten or so individually. As you know, I've been after #1 for a while but I managed to recently buy #1-#42 on Ebay so I won't be bidding on this set now. He reckons that he's had an offer of £200 which he rejected. It's on £...

Re: Planning for retirement
Like a lot of people of a certain age I have been slowly planning my retirement, I have two and a half years left to go think the money side is sorted, house paid for etc etc. I know I probably won’t have the spare cash to spend on comics as I have now so I got a plan in place to keep me in reading...
