Re: Does your partner have any interest in your comics?

Had a day out in Hexham today with my wife, I looked round the charity shops and bookshops while she looked at whatever she looked at. I found a lovely old Judy annual from 1881 (similar to Punch), which had some Ally Sloper content. When we met up again she asked what I had been buying as my book ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

I An alternative would be to sell it via phil-comics. Phil takes quite a high percentage of the price and you’ll still have to send the comic to him. I thought I’d bought Tiger #1 last year in great condition for £100 but it never arrived and the seller went quiet on me. Luckily I got my money back...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

I have considered putting it on eBay but I'm worried the buyer will falsely claim they didn't receive it. It's happened before and I've had to give a refund despite the buyer having no proof they didn't receive it. "Please find attached an image of the empty space where the comic should be, what mo...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

I just saw a box of early Tigers with a £45 price tag on top. It wasn't until I got home that I realised it was the first 49 issues. Apart from staple rust they are in excellent condition. He has the complete volume two of Eagle for £85. That kind of haul only happens rarely but when it does, it's ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

[quote="stevezodiac"] Lion 1-4, 18-46, 48-63, 116-119. Tiger 1-49 including free gifts for 2, 29 and 30. TV Fun 1-14, 16-56. Wow! What a brilliant haul. These three lots alone are worth substantially more than you paid for them. Well done! I've been after Tiger #1 for ages and with those free gifts,...

Re: Overlooked early children's comics

My hobby is collecting old comics , magazines, old books( victorian for example)and annuals . usually spending an average of £2 per week with a limit of £5. I could spend more but for me this is just a fun loose change type hobby. I tend to overlook nursery comics but these shown from the 1959/60s ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Monster Monthly #1 - Marvel - 1982 Strange that I'd never heard of that one given the date and that I had the full House/Halls of Hammer/Horror. Just must have slipped by me. It's funny that you say that as I'd never heard of it until I saw a chart of all Marvel UK comics in the 70s and 80s last mo...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

The original run of Action ran from issue 1 (cover dated 14 February 1976) to issue 37 (cover dated 23 October 1976). Issue 37 was pulled by senior editor John Sanders and ordered to be immediately pulped. As a result, some far sighted individuals who had received an advance copy cleverly decided t...

I've bought quite a few since my last post on this section but today, as mentioned on another thread, the very nice Postie delivered a bound volume of the complete run of 19 comics of The Glasgow Looking Glass which became the Northern Looking Glass and includes the two "New Series" editions produc...

Re: Oldest comic in the world.

There is a rumour that the exhibition of the oldest comic in the world, the Glasgow Looking Glass, ended in tragedy. The comic has actually disappeared. Please keep a look out for anyone advertising this comic. Ha! As Hawkeye knows, because it was his direction that put me on the trail, I have just...

Re: Ebay deals

I've now received a message saying I have to add tracking details. But I send all my packages as standard post. It's an annoyance. How do you get a tracking number? I received the same email but i think it doesn't mean that you have to pay the extra for Signed for although if it does, the cost will...
