Re: What comics did you buy today?

I loved Subbuteo as a kid whether it was football, rugby or cricket. Each had its charms. My most frequent opponent was my younger brother who I would trounce on a fairly regular basis. I had both versions of the Subbuteo rugby game, the old rolling disks version and then the one introduced in the m...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

I hadn't looked closely at those Rainbows and it hadn't occurred to me that twelve issues didn't cover four full months. It turns out one issue is numbered 1891/96 and dated March 10 to April 14 1956. I must admit I was wondering about the amount of comics. Could you post a picture of the 1891/96, ...

A young ballerina thwarted in her dancing ambitions by an accident! The world of Bunty and her sisters is percolating into your real life Derek! Seriously though, I hope Lois is soon on the mend.

Re: THE SLOPERIAN - NEW FANZINE.

Still waiting for issue 2. Just not expecting it, not any longer anyway. Perhaps the authors have shuffled off their mortal coil. Hi Derek! Great to have you back. It's a long time ago but I think I contributed something to 'The Sloperian' and my mortal coil still appears to be in working order, at...

Re: how many Buster issues?

Going through the Busters I won last week I came across this contribution in the issue dated 17/8/85. http://i65.tinypic.com/2vvo1ow.jpg That's a blast from the past Steve! I remember I won a Buster baseball cap and T shirt for my efforts. In the mid 1960's Buster was certainly my favourite comic b...

Happy 50th Birthday, Gnasher!

It's fifty years ago this week since the fateful day when Dennis discovered that 'likely specimen' in the street and entered him in the local dog show. It was also the week that my eleven year old self started to make my daily twelve mile journey to the 'local' grammar school which was quite an odys...

You can certainly buy it with the 80 Years book (£12 I think). Not sure about with the boxed set though.

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Martin Hamer had one for sale in an auction years ago but I haven't seen one since. With regard to the 'Kiddies Playtime' and 'Kiddies Box of Books' the only time I've ever 'seen' them was when examples were advertised on the rear cover of one of Thomson's 'Annie S Swan Annuals'. Thinking about it c...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

A John Leng publication, from 1941. Never seen one before until I found this one on ebay a few days ago. Upon having a good internet search I could only find trace of one other, sold by Phil in 2007. Its quite a strange shape for an annual, 8.5 inches wide and 12.5 inches tall and quite thick. The ...

Re: The Adventures of Fudge the Elf

Might nip out and buy the first Beano book after the signing too and I wonder if the Manchester shops might have stocked the first Broons book as well. Now that would have been a great afternoon, and still left with a handful of change from a £1!

Re: Beano annual reprints

Speaking of these reprints the only one I've ordered is the edition for 1962 as it will make a nice present for my kid brother who was born in that year.
