Re: Advertising Strips
I had my first Tizer in years and years....the colour looked different and the taste wasn't right...didn't like it... Skips have changed a great deal as well...maybe it was the E's in the product of the past which gave it that zing!!.. They've messed with Tizer a few times in recent years. Five or ...

Re: Batman - The Brave and the Bold
If anyone subscribes to LoveFilm's streaming service, they'll find this on there now (along with some other DC delights, including the classic 1990s Batman animated series). I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Batman:TBatB. Crammed full of references to old comics/iterations of Batman that only ad...

If you try to do all at once I hope you're using suitable protection...
...for your comics, of course. Wouldn't want the precious comics to get damaged by being splattered with food, drink and (yes, I think we'll leave this one there. Ed.)

Re: People who don't like comics
There are two kinds of people. Those who eat, drink, have sex, "like whatever is in the charts" and watch telly and then there are people who have hobbies and interests, read books, see films not just as entertainment but as an art form and have selective musical taste.. Hm. Not sure that "eating, ...

Re: Which comic would you choose if there could only be one?
The Beano.
Even though I no longer buy it every issue (unlike 2000 AD, Judge Dredd Megazine, Viz and far too many US titles) it was the first comic I fell in love with, and it's the last remaining "traditional" children's weekly.

Re: Humour, adventure, or both?
Although recent Beanos have shown more sophistication in some stories, which made me laugh at any rate... I laughed out loud at the Beano for the first time ever the other week - and I never used to laugh out loud at it even when I was in the target audience for the comic! (It was the 75th annivers...

Re: currently on at the 'pictures':
Saw Kick Ass 2 at the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. The excessive swears/gore/bodily emissions all worked for me in context, but maybe it's one for emetophobics to avoid... What DID make me feel uneasy, however, was the Union J product placement. I understand the need for product placement but ...

Mad is really hard to come by in newsagents. There's one newsagents in Manchester city centre that I'm aware of that stocks it (the one on Piccadilly Gardens, if you're ever around that way), and I'm sure I've seen it in the WH Smith in either Euston or Victoria in London too (yeah, dead helpful, no...

I'd also have to mention the current Hawkeye series, which is also fantastic. I held off looking at it for ages because I had no interest in the character, but after I heard about the Pizza Dog issue* I gave it a try and I am now a firm follower. For one thing, it's about what Hawkeye does when he'...

Beano special is £6.99 and Dandy's is £4.99. The Beano special can be bought with both Beano and Dandy 2014 annuals for £14.00. https://www.dcthomsonshop.co.uk/Product-Triple_Trouble_Pack(20130101)-DCS(2)-BTRP4(3125).aspx And if they're on the DCT shop, I guess that means that neither of the specia...
