Re: Where do you buy your vintage comics?

Yup, on-line auction sites normally such as eBay, Comic Postal Auctions and Vault Auctions.

The Book Palace in Crystal Palace is a good source too.

I never heard of 30th Century Comics but am interested in checking them out the next time I go up London.

Re: Dandy & Beano 2009 Annuals - Front cover images

Whoopee! Not too far off before I can go and get my annuals for this year.

Where I live, my town has one late night shopping day (first Friday in December) and I tend to try and buy them. If I cannot get them then, I tend to go to Waterstones (which usually have a cheap offer anyway).

Spaceship Away - what do you think of it?

I like it (enough to have a subscription).

Obviously I like the Dan Dare strips (a pity that Don Harley cannot do more than he does).

Journey into Space is good and I am looking forward to the new Ron Turner strip.

I just wondered if there are anybody on this site who reads it and their thoughts.

Re: What if Victor hadn't folded...

Who could say that a Command-style Victor would have survived? Especially if DCT could have used old material.

Then again, I liked Starblazer better than Commando but that didn't survive.

Re: Bustercomic.co.uk - A bit of shameless shelf promotion

One of my life's regrets is not buying the last ever issue. I just didn't know that it happened until it was too late. :(

What if Victor hadn't folded...

I was always sad when DCT finally decided to fold Victor . Not only because it was the end of a comic that had been around decades but also it was the last of DCT weekly adventure comics. I just wonder that instead of folding the comic, that DCT had turned it into a Commando-style publication where ...

Re: Issue numbers - Beano is only five behind Dandy

As another interesting tangent a 2000AD reader worked out that, if they continue weekly publication and also calling the christmas bumper issues "Prog (year)", then Prog 2010 will be followed 3-4 weeks later with... Prog 2010! Interesting point which raises yet another question: What do they call t...

Re: Commando: Another crazy idea!

I watched the first Spiderman film and the CGI totally put me off. Also i thought the casting was terrible, Toby Maguire is nothing like Peter Parker and the girl who plays Mary Jane can't hold a candle to the one we saw on the last page of Spiderman 40, 42? as drawn by John Romita. "Face it tiger,...

Re: Cuddles and Dimples' Mum

Or perhaps DCT couldn't afford two sets of parents and had to lay one of them off. Of course, keeping the sexiest of the two mothers.

Casting back, which Dad thought he was Elvis (including hair and sideburns)?

Re: Issue numbers - Beano is only five behind Dandy

The Beano will overtake the Dandy in issue numbers about 5 times, with the Dandy coming back now and again, but the Beano will completely overtake at the end of January 2009. Not sure that I follow you, Conor. Surely the Beano will overtake the Dandy just the once (sometime in December). Unless you...

Not really a serious question (as you may have guessed) and as long as they are continued to be published. Like thomasc1982, I've been collecting them since I was seven.

Why? Why? WHY!!!???

Now I know that there are many burning issues e.g. Why is Gordon Brown still in power ? - (Please no political discussions). Who is going to be the next American President? Whoever thought that the title for the new James Bond movie was ever cool? - (Though it is starting to grow on me - besides it'...

Re: Issue numbers - Beano is only five behind Dandy

Whoops. Sorry, guys. I did mean to say that the Dandy is known to be currently the longest British running weekly. Anyway, that wasn't the debate I was trying to invoke. As stevezodiac had said, the Dandy became the longest running British weekly purely by the number of issues that had been publishe...
