Re: Are you a collector, or just a fan?

I like this time of year - I saw my first kingfisher ever yesterday! :) - Phil R. I'm fortunate to cycle alongside a river to work every day. I THINK I've seen a kingfisher (a shot of blue on the river), and definitely seen a heron, a woodpecker and numerous small birds like tits and a wren! BTW Ph...

Re: What comics DIDN'T you buy today?

250 quid for the debut COR!!---this notion would have blown my mind had I known this, back in distant 1970! G-U-L-P! I threw all my old Cor!s on a bonfire along with Look-Ins..mind you I cut out the Noble Timeslip strips before doing so. WHY? Who thought UK comics would ever be of interest to anyon...

TV Century 21, but before The Saint and Tarzan were added and before Mike Noble left Captain Scarlet and obviously keeping Bellamy's Thunderbirds!

Re: Retro TV

For some reason I never watched 'Timeslip' when it was on TV either. If it was even half as weird as the comic strip version that Mike Noble drew for Look-in then I reckon we both missed out on something special! - Phil Rushton I had fond memories of watching it at the time and borrowed a friend's ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

I was in Harrogate for a short break and visited the PBFA Book fair . Spent nothing  But in the second-hand bookshop in Harrogate (23a Commercial Street) found Thunderbirds Annual copyright 1966 (therefore Thunderbirds 1967 Annual !) with the Frank Bellamy cover - cost? £3 in near mint!!! I hav...

Artists from the war period - cartoons rather than comics

I realise that this is more 'cartoon' than 'comics' but I was recently asked by someone responding to one of my blogs about some artwork he owns and information on the artists themselves. Have a look at the blog entry and do let me know if you know anything, Thanks, Norman http://standby4action.file...

Re: The world's best blog is back.....

It's not UK comics (and apologies to Lew for the subject header!) Sorry Lew, what I meant was YOU recently returned to blogging and I'm not talking about your blog being the best in the world....oh dear! I wish I'd thought a bit more carefully about this..... :headbash: Anyway you will find Robby R...

The world's best blog is back.....

It's not UK comics (and apologies to Lew for the subject header!) but I'm sure a lot of people will love the fact that Robby Reed is back with his superb Dial B for Blog. Start with issue 601 (and yes, if this is new to you, you are about to be immersed in a ton of good stuff! http://www.dialbforblo...

Re: Eaglemoss - Gerry Anderson vintage comic collection

The latest from Lee Sullivan (via Facebook) is he hasn't done any more covers beyond #5 and that "someone in Fanderson says they are considering re-launching in March". We'll wait and see....perhaps we'll be browsing this archive in 2020 and wondering why it didn't happen :D

Sandman: Overture #1

I was going to wait for the graphic novel of the new Gaiman Sandman prequel but was passing a comic shop and they actually had copies of number 1 so I bought it. I felt a tinge of excitement at reading this alongside others who didn't know the story, like I haven't experienced for many a year! It's ...

Australian database

This is a bit outside the scope of Comics UK but might be of interest to some here. Ausreprints is an interesting database with covers and details rather like Comics.org but concentrates on the fact that: Australian access to international comics was relatively limited until the 1980s, resulting in ...

Five go off to camp Annual - artist unknown

I visited the interesting Seven Stories in Newcastle the other day whilst on holiday and they had a nice display of Enid Blyton material including original art, letters, photos etc etc. One feature left me puzzled. These pictures show two pages from "Five Go Off To Camp Annual" 1984 published by Pur...
