IPC Fleetway or DC Thomson?

Loved the IPC stuff, Action, Battle, etc but still read Commandos with a passion so that tipped it for me.

Welcome to the new Forums.

Al,
switching over to the new forum is great. No longer do we have to search through multiple pages to get to the thread that we seek! And no thread ever dies! What could be better? Great work Batman!

Comic related on vinyl or records or CD's

Not forgetting Transvision Vamp's 'Waiting for Halo Jones'. Loved Wendy James' voice. :P

YOU ARE THE EDITOR

Meant to have a go at this before I left, but try this for a mix. Cover and page 32 True story as done by Jack Glass. Pages 2 - 4 Invasion (2000AD) Pages 5 - 7 Judge Dredd (2000AD) Pages 8 - 10 Wilson (Hotspur/Hornet) Pages 11 - 13 Johnny Cougar (Tiger) Page 14 Toad In The Hole (Victor) Page 15 Coun...

Re: Fleetway issue Numbers

Oh my God! Why do we want to know this? Isn't life just a teensy bit tooooooooooooo short? Kev, we all have had our 'sadness' quotient permanently switched to off since we admitted to being comic collectors! But I digress, many of the IPC/Fleetway/Amalgamated Press comics must have skipped a ...

QUESTION RED/ORANGE SPHERE WITH MAD PROFESSOR INSIDE.

Also sounds like the Crimson Crusher which was printed in the Hotspur in 1979. Another reprint by DCT with a different artist in order to make a story look 'new'. The bit that bugs me the most is that the style looks like Tony O'Donnell, but is too early by about 5 years. Anybody that can contradict...

Any new Ebay buys recently?

I got lucky and got 97 issues of Misty for only ?166 on Ebay. I am so glad that my Mrs is a comics fan otherwise I would have a hard time explaining why I had spent so much on comics. It does help that Misty is the one comic that she loves above all others. Plus, I will get to read them after she ha...

Is anyone still reading 2000AD?

Like Pensky, I still read the Megazine. I found that I couldn't justify paying for 2000AD as it only had two stories that I would read and I still had to buy other luxuries like shoes for the kids! :? I dip in and out of it on an irregualr basis, but as it has been over 6 years since I got Tooth on ...

Fleetway issue Numbers

Slightly off-topic, but collectors of early DCT stuff have the same problem as they went to fortnightly publishing during WW2 and did not end that fortnightly issue system until the late 40's. (Still trying to figure out exactly when it ended)

Re: Story Papers - little connection to comics?

At the risk of making myself unpopular I never really saw the relationship between Story papers and comics.Earl. As I started as a Victor reader, there were always a mix of the text and the illustrated strip, so I can see the relationship as comics were intended as a throwaway medium (I can see the...

Re: Did you read comics before 1937?

Did you read comics before 1937? That's lovely. Shouldn't you be dead by now? Only just! Must admit I did buy a 1938 Wizard Annual to see what the difference in context was. And wow, what a difference in social standards! Spadger's Isle will never be re-published (re-invented as Sparky and you know...
