Re: "New look" for the Beano

I'm sure you'll have noticed Ratz was only absent for the one issue - it's absent again this week (along with no less than EIGHT other stories!). Did you see the Ozymandias poem in last week's issue. It was drawn by Hunt and featured the Bash Street Kids. Also, does anyone know who draws Billy the C...

About that price...

You think £1.50 is bad? This week's issue is £1.99 - as that's Dandy Xtreme's cover price, I'd have expected 3 free gifts, which is the minimum the Dandy ever has, not just 2, and four extra pages, taking it to 36, the same as Dandy! It didn't, so it's a rip off in my book. :x I suspect it wasn't ...

all of the annuals from 1990 to 2006 if I'm not mistaken. There was also one strip in the weekly comic, the 60th birthday issue in 1998.

Any idea why the Bellboy is missing from the logo of that No1 Dandy Dan's holding?

Re: Dandy & Beano 2009 Annuals - Front cover images

Looking at the Dandy cover it looks like Dan has his gun back in his holster. I remember a couple of years ago the gun was taken away and his holster was given a flap so that nothing showed protruding from it. Have they changed the policy or is this just an oversight by the cover artist? The gun wa...

Re: Classics of the Beano 70 years next Month..end of July

I didn't like the Numskulls and Crazy for Daisy - they were slightly pixellated, and in greyscale. If they're going to print stories which are that recent, the whole mag could do to be in colour! Also, the strips were so recent (2003), I have the original comics. They'll never again print anything s...

Re: Beano 70 Years of Fun special out now

Scrapper and Big Fat Joe have different outfits, Ken Harrison's predecessor as Snooty artist changed them. That's the main difference. For Snooty,I think only the hair is different, it's more solid.

Re: Fred's Bed

I would imagine that The Riot Squad is going to run out first, as Hoot, being overpriced at 20p for 16 pages (as opposed to 16p for 20 pages), didn't have a very long run, but I believe that Ken Harrison is heading towards semi-retirement. Hoot had 53 issues before merging with Dandy. KH only does ...

Re: Lord Snooty is back!! (well sort of...)

You kind of got your wish, as Snooty, Doubting Thomas, Big Fat Joe, and Scapper Smith cameoed in David Sutherland's Fred's Bed strip this week. Snooty the Third did not appear in the comic at all.

Dandy maybe. The Beano's highest was about 1.9 million according to the Beano 70 Years of Fun collectors edition book.
