Re: Original Red Dwarf Smegazine Art

Recently dug out another Red Dwarf artwork. This time not as elaborate and colourful the other two, but a B&W page from Red Dwarf Smegazine issue #4 from June 1992. Here's the original page that I own and the colourised version that featured in the Smegazine. I find a lot of detail was lost once the...

On The Buses Look-in Art (Harry North)

Who can remember the Look-in Magazine growing up in the 70s? I used to love seeing all the comic strips from classic British comedy series of the day, such as. On The Buses. Man About The House. Please Sir. Catweazle. Mind Your Language. And many many more.... I've collected on my travels about 20+ ...

Re: Jackpot Annual 1982 Christmas Cover Art

Thanks for sharing. It’s a great piece of art from a great artist. Too much of Sid’s art has been destroyed but he’s always been a favourite. His work on Joker always made me go straight to the back cover of Whizzer & Chips before I even opened it. Hey, you're welcome friend. It's a lovely piece. I...

Al, perhaps you could oblige by putting those covers onto the Grand Comics Database. I'm going to out those two Beanos on if Into the Abyss doesn't mind.
Stevezodiac. Good idea about AI's covers. And regarding my two Beanos. Hey, copy & paste away friend. Welcome to use them. 🙂👍

Re: Vintage Pre-War Beano & Dandy Comics

The images for your 2 Beano's and 2 Dandy's have come through fine thanks. Very nice items to have in your collection. I don't have any pre-war issues of these titles. My earliest is a 1941 Dandy. However, I have managed to acquire front covers of most of the pre-war issues though. Mostly from auct...

Re: Jackpot Annual 1982 Christmas Cover Art

Yeah, I agree. It's so distracting sometimes. Takes the eye away from the art itself. :headbash: I bought the Jackpot art a few years ago after I saw it online for sale. The added bonus was, the annual came with the art. What more do you want. Just love the subject matter. I had the very sa...

Re: Original Red Dwarf Smegazine Art

Lovely, thanks for sharing. I have a page of Alan’s artwork from new Eagle Hey, no problem friend. Nice to give these pages an airing after being stored away. Love too that you own some Eagle art by Alan Burrows. Man's got so much talent, it's unreal. Anyway, to own one of his pages to me is thrill...

Vintage Pre-War Beano & Dandy Comics

Hi all. Been thinking. Do any any forum members collect any pre-war Beano & Dandy comics? I know they are extremely expensive, well the early issues are, but it would be great to see any pictures of what you've collected over the years. Here's two examples of what I own. A Beano Comic No' 42 & 43 fr...

Jackpot Annual 1982 Christmas Cover Art

Ahhhhhhhh..... who can remember the Jackpot Annual & Comic by Fleetway Press? I do. Had the comic on order at my local newsagent, among others, and every week would run home from school to see if my mother had picked it up. It was superb. Great stories and even greater characters. Anyway, a few year...

Re: Anyone recognize the artist behind this signature?

I agree. Although I initially drew a blank trying to find a match for the signature, did notice Salvador's work looked very close to the page above. And as you know, artists do change their style, bit like how our signatures change over time, so could explain the subtle differences in his work over ...

As a lover of Dan Dare and the Eagle comic, would have enjoyed that Radio 4 programme. 8)
