Re: Phoenix's Future Plans

I might get some clarity tomorrow when my issue of The Guardian and I go to the White Hart for my leisurely lunchtime pint because Karen, one of the barmaids, used to moonlight regularly in the Copperhouse. Mind you, if I have to go and fetch Lois from school again tomorrow, and then stay in with h...

Re: Buffalo Brave - any scans

Russ rang me at about 10 o'clock to ask me if I could go up to St. Ives Secondary School to collect Lois and bring her home, as she was not at all well, and would I please pick her up from Reception. For the second time in four school days I've had to sign a form to be allowed to take her out of sc...

Re: Weather or not...

There was this thread back in 2012... http://comicsuk.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4764 Yes, and following it up allowed me to make momentary contact with many frequent and knowledgeable posters from the past, such as Raven, Peter Gray, Jonny Whizz, who I think was a schoolboy in Liverpool, feln...

Re: Phoenix's Future Plans

I stopped at the Copperhouse on the way home for a pint tonight. No such luck tonight though. It was shut, and when I finally got a pint up the road in the Cornubia, I was told by a guy at the bar that the Copperhouse had not been open yesterday either, so it looks as though it has closed its doors...

Re: Buffalo Brave - any scans

"The material we are looking for are the numbers from the Wizard collection (DC Thomson) No. 136-147. The material to be scanned would be only the pages of Buffalo Brave, the 3 of each delivery and the covers that refer to Buffalo Brave, 38 pages in total." I do have the full run of Buffalo Brave ,...

Re: Buffalo Brave - any scans

I have been contacted again by José Ruiz del Amor in Spain, who is in contact with artist Joan Boix. Boix' first art published abroad (ie out of Spain) was for the British market: "Buffalo Brave" in Wizard. del Amor and Boix are after high-quality scans of the story in question - apparently Boix ha...

I have this very evening discovered on Lew Stringer's 'BLIMEY!' blog that GOOF is an 'all-new digital comic'!!.

Re: Looking for first appearance of Miss Bigger

Thank you Phoenix. I was wondering when the first Wee Sue Story ended in Sandie. So she ended 20 May 1972? Well if you had possessed the issue for 20 May 1972, Briony, I'm sure that you would have been persuaded, as I was, by the words THE END at the end of that instalment. Sorry for the delay in r...

Re: Looking for first appearance of Miss Bigger

Quite by chance yesterday morning when I was searching for my collection of issues of BUNTY Picture Story Library , I stumbled across my meagre collection of SANDIE . It happens to include the final five episodes of Wee Sue . These five date (no numbering) from 22 April 1972 to 20 May 1972. I am ext...

Re: What comics DIDN'T you buy today?

I always thought if you spend, spend, spend you end up with nothing , so I adopt a balance of spend and save. Well there's not a lot wrong with that approach, abacus. I have finally reached a position in which I don't really need any more story papers, either for boys or girls. However, I do tend t...

Re: What comics DIDN'T you buy today?

What exactly was the point in going to the car boot, abacus, if you didn't feel like spending the £2 or even just the £1? In any case, you could have offered the £1. The vendor might have taken it given that he obviously wasn't expecting to get much for it anyway.

Re: Phoenix's Future Plans

I hadn't been expecting a great deal from today, but I was rung up about half nine by Russ to tell me that everybody was going out to the Tehidy Country Park, which is relatively near to Camborne, and did I want to come as well? The 'everybody' consisted of Russ, Rach, Lois, Alex, and Lynne, plus Ra...

Re: Phoenix's Future Plans

Russ, Alex and I have just got back from visiting Lois in Treliske hospital near Truro. Needless to say, she was very happy to see us. We stopped at the Copperhouse on the way home for a pint (a J2O for Alex) and a couple of games of snooker. She had the operation earlier, and to be honest looked co...
