1966 Dandy free this week!!

But I thought England won the cup in '66?

Looking forward to this one myself, since it may well be one of the first comics I ever read as a 7-year-old.

Lovely touch!

Oh, and it's Morris, but I'm certain he'll forgive you in exchange for the publicity.

My Comic Art Masterclass

Thanks for the masterclass in putting on a Masterclass, Kev. Whatever Kev quotes, I'll knock off a fiver, folks...can't say fairer than that.... By the way - Shrewsbury will be invaded by cartoonists this weekend (starting tomorrow from about 11am - ends lunchtime on Sunday) for the third ann...

Tom Paterson

'Tam' is how he is known to his friends and colleagues, and how most Tom's are known in Scotland. I usually refer to him as Tom on these boards to avoid confusion, but when we're on the phone, it's always Tam. I had no idea he was also a victim of Gilbert the Alien though. I was interviewed by the b...

Back Issues.

Ahhh - another look at your post reveals a space typed at the end of the URL before you closed the image. Tiny error, but that's all it takes. Try it again yourself with no spaces. Don't worry about the thread - whatever you're doing, people are learning from it.

I can't see where you've gone wrong either, but it does work (I copied the URL from your previous post, and used the 'Img' facility above. From what I can see, you did everything right).

Re: Comic artists influances and heros......

Lew...Steve...Jamie......Nigel P what were your heroes and influances? I read any comic I could get hold of as a kid, but my regular favourites were Sparky and Wizard. In my teens it was all Marvel and DC stuff, Silver Surfer, X-men and the Avengers mostly. Unlike Lew and some other artists, I am n...

Funday Times RIP

Sad news, Kev. I worked for Funday for over a decade on 'Rex & Tex' and 'Scribble'. R&T came in very early on and was the cover story for a few years, before gradually being whittled down from the original two pages, to a one-tier strip. I can't say I'd followed the section's progress much in recent...

Hugh McNeill chat...

The artist you're thinking of was Vic Neill, Peter, and I don't think he ever wrote his own scripts, although I can't be sure about that. Hugh McNeill was of much earlier times, being the original Pansy Potter artist back in the 1930s.
