Re: Bully Beef and Chips

Iain, me ol' mucker, I offer my humblest apologies (and to Morris if he requires them). It was a darned fine script anyways up, and a pleasure to draw.

Er...I did draw it, didn't I? :?

Re: The fizzog that sunk a thousand ships - Jonah at fifty.

Beat me to it on all counts, Lew. Damn right again, as NP might (and probably will) say. Tolworthy, I can see where you're coming from, and I accept that what you're proposing is held by you to be a good thing for all concerned. But there are other ways in which to promote the comics business that d...

Not to be encouraged on a public forum, I suggest.

Re: Bully Beef and Chips

The Jocks and the Geordies was revived for a one-off dig at Viz in 1995. My brother probablt had the issue but i doubt he has now. It was a satire of the situation between Viz (based in Newcastle, even) and DC Thompson at the time
Any idea who drew it?

Lew, your last handful of posts....

[i:c14beec75c]brilliantly [/i:c14beec75c]put with restraint and dignity (not sure I could have done it), and as NP said,[b:c14beec75c] damn right![/b:c14beec75c]

Did you / do you actually find old british comics funny?

The traditional 'formula' for a script, as explained to me at age 18 by then Beano Editor, Harry Crammond, was an opening, three funny incidents and a twist at the end (this would be for a single page in the 70's, as most of the stories were back then; around 12 pictures long). I hated following thi...

Did you / do you actually find old british comics funny?

I think Kev summed it up with his "comics were usually for smiling at" comment. I started the 70's as a kid avidly reading as many humour comics I could get my hands on, and finished the same decade writing for the Beano, then Nutty. As a writer, I think we aim for smiles rather than guffaws, and an...

... and unless we're really not paying attention, if it got onto Andy Pandy and the Flumps, that topic would be moved back to Discussion> because it's too broad for the specific forum. On that point, one set of forums I am on does have a rule of staying on topic. We're rather less worried about tha...

CHRISTMAS BEANO - A LOT OF REPRINT MATERIAL?

Oh, and Happy New Year!

My resolution is to speak my mind more, after a 2007 of largely biting my tongue. Hopefully it'll be one of those resolutions that won't last long.

It was in Discussion> originally. Where it doesn't belong, and I'm more than a little p***ed off about the number of threads that get created in Discussion> out of pure laziness. Okay, Andy, in order that you might be a little less p***ed off, perhaps you'd like to clarify just exactly what the Dis...

Cheap Annuals

Dream on, chaps - unless policy has changed in recent years, even the office staff have to pay (discount) for them.
