Re: What Comic Would You Like Out There?

The most impressive thing about Warrior was the way in which Moore and Leach took a classic British character like Marvelman and re-imagined him for a new generation by adding an extra dimension without discarding or losing respect for the existing continuity. To my mind most other revivals over th...

Re: What's Your Favourite (from list provided)?

I would have voted for the Dandy...until 2000AD came out in 1977.

Re: What Comic Would You Like Out There?

Here would be the line up in my ultimate Valiant comic. Re: What Comic Would You Like Out There?

I'd like to see a new comic (maybe called Valiant) with the traditional UK mix of humour and adventure in it - they could feature some (not all) old characters like Janus Stark (drawn by Frank Quitely) Swots and the Blots, Faceache (by Hunt Emerson) House of Dollman (Ian Gibson) Eagle Eye Junior Sp...

No I didn't know that. :) Though it wouldn't have changed the list.

What Comic Would You Like Out There?

Forget about the economy. Forget what kids would like/not like. What comic would you like out there? For me, there would be two: Valiant . Or rather an updated version featuring the cream of IPC's comic characters but which runs more on the same line as 2000AD . But with the directive that although ...

What's Your Favourite (from list provided)?

I got some spare time on my hands today so I thought I would run a poll for a bit of fun to see which is the most popular from the selection provided by Comics UK.

Re: Issue numbers - Beano is only five behind Dandy

As for the Christmas Beano skipping a week in order to do a 48 page bumper issue, wasn't that common practice with the "bumper" 16 page Xmas comics of the 1930s? It's just an old tradition that's been revived in recent years. I quite like it. Lew I like the double-issue idea too. :) Outside of comi...

Brendan McGuire wrote:I was trying to be as bland as I possibly could with that answer. What I should have said was: "How can he still be in power when he hasn't enabled the means of production to be put into the workers' hands?"
Or something. :)

Re: Advert for Nutty no.1

I don't know, especially since there were Bananaman Annuals dated 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987. Although Bananaman did have a TV show at the time. :? I wonder if DCT had a policy whether a comic had to last so long or make so many sales before it was afforded an annual? Since none of their new comics ...

Re: Why? Why? WHY!!!???

Now I know that there are many burning issues e.g. Why is Gordon Brown still in power ? - (Please no political discussions). By the way, I think it's wrong make a political point, then ask no-one else to make any more. How about someone says something overtly racist then says 'please, no political ...

Re: Any Dandy Characters you DON'T like?

I thought (and still think) that Black Bob was brilliant (DCT must have thought so to spawn off eleven? annuals). In the modern comic, it is the Bogies I don't like. But in the day, my least favourite (though not to say I didn't really like it) was Desperate Dawg. Basically, I couldn't see the point.
