I was trying to get my head around alanultron5's post (no disrespect) and understood it to mean that the present Dandy has no more in common with the pre-fortnightly than the 'Beatles' band and insects.

But I could be way of base. :?

Re: What would happen if DCT dropped 'The Dandy' from the title?

The `Dandy` name is now just a name! When the Beatles first hit the charts a lot was made of their name and its `insect` connections! By the late 60s no one thought like that any more! they were just the Beatles! I think the same applys to the Dandy! Not sure if I follow you unless you mean that th...

I got it yesterday and it looked better than in other weeks (comic strip content). Had BOTH Desperate Dan and Cuddles & Dimples.

And the Dandy logo sure looks small (even more so on the subscriber's page).

Apart from the colour, I don't really see it either. :)

Re: The shrinking Dandy Masterhead

Maybe it's because it is the Monday Blues, but I do wonder about DCT's efforts in keeping the Dandy going. Don't get me wrong, I cannot knock them for trying but is it really working? Does Dandy Xtreme sell any better than the Dandy ? I am and will always be a Dandy fan, but as stated before, the Da...

Re: What would happen if DCT dropped 'The Dandy' from the title?

If they decided to go monthly with Dandy Xtreme, then yes I think the Dandy would go, you can see it now Xtreme goes monthly buy issue 1 next month!!!!!!!. Nice & easy change over. Chuckle. Me too. :D The name and term 'DANDY' was outmoded even when the comic was launched in 1937; who on earth uses...

What would happen if DCT dropped 'The Dandy' from the title?

After reading (and noticing) about the recently smaller Dandy logo, it did start to make me wonder: What would happen if DCT actually dropped 'The Dandy' name from the title? Who would notice? Okay, we would but would the kids who actually read it (apart from casual observation)? And would they care...

Re: The shrinking Dandy Masterhead

I was going to create a thread about the very same thing. "The Dandy" is almost like a subheading now (even though it appears BEFORE 'Xtreme'). Of course 'Xtreme' is a cooler name. Far better to say to your mates that I get Xtreme rather than The Dandy / Dandy Xtreme . So maybe a factor in sales as ...

Re: Issue numbers - Beano is only five behind Dandy

It seems that my last post was a wee bit premature.

I just went to Sainsbury's today and bought the latest issues of the Dandy and the Beano. Both have the same issue number (No 3461). Both have the same issue date (6th December 2008).

Obsession over.

Re: Issue numbers - Beano is only five behind Dandy

LOL. You are right, Connor.

I just checked the last couple of Dandys and their issue numbers are

11/11/2008 - No. 3457
25/10/2008 - No. 3458
08/11/2008 - No. 3457

No wonder I missed it (or have I???)

Thanks, Connor for pointing that one out.

Re: How could the Dandy save itself?

I got to say that Black Bob was my all-time favourite Dandy strip (so much that I have managed to collect all his annuals). However, saying that, I agree that it was rather dated even then (not only the way it was presented (with text and no speech balloons) but also the type of stories) and it woul...

Re: Issue numbers - Beano is only five behind Dandy

Last week was when the Beano caught up the Dandy issue-wise and guess who forgot to go down and buy the comics?

I bought them this week but the Beano is now one issue ahead.

Never mind.
