Re: Ron Embleton's first fully painted strip?

Hi Phil, I'm glad you like this early Embleton full colour artwork. There is more on the website of Look and Learn Magazine; e.g. search their Picture Library for Embleton 1956, and you'll find all the pages of Boy King Arthur . Repeat the search with Embleton 1957, and scans of the original artwork...

Ron Embleton's first fully painted strip?

From an on line biography (which follows the article by Norman Wright and David Ashford in their Masters of Fun and Thrills almost to the letter), I have taken the following quotes: -“1957 was a halcyon year for Embleton for it also saw him blazing forth, for the first time in full colour, on the ...

Hi Phil, Thanks for the information and the wonderful scans. This is exactly what I wanted to know and see... But, now you have made me curious about the credits. You wrote 'there is no credit listed but the following issue is specifically attributed to Ron and Jenny Butterworth'. Are their names me...

Ron Embleton and Wulf the Briton

While trying to find out exactly when Ron Embleton took over drawing 'Wulf the Briton' in Express Weekly, I found an article by Andrew Darlington on the Internet. From his article, which was originally published in 1993: ---------------- WULF THE BRITON replaced the MARK FURY single-page colour stri...

Re: Hugh McNeill

There is a lot of information on McNeill on Steve Holland's blog: http://bearalley.blogspot.com/2006/12/hugh-mcneill.html and http://bearalley.blogspot.com/2007/08/water-babies.html . The new book by Norman Wright & David Ashford, Masters of Fun & Thrills , contains an essay on McNeill as well, with...

Basil Reynolds (1916-2001) and Mickey Mouse Weekly

Hi Phil and Kashgar, Thanks for your information. It is always nice to get a helping hand! Yesterday I received an answer from a Reference Specialist of the Public Services of the British Library Newspapers which confirms your thoughts and mine: "I can find no evidence to suggest that Amalgamated Pr...

Hi Kashgar, Below information comes from the website http://www.pizarro.net/didier/_private/tomart/Disney_MagazinesI.htm . This piece on MMW gives the year 1961 as the final year, although under another title. " On an Island with the English Mickey Mouse Weekly While Mickey ? Revista Infantil Ilustr...

Basil Reynolds (1916-2001) and Mickey Mouse Weekly

While doing some research on the British strip-cartoon artist Basil H. Reynolds (1916-2001), I came across the following book: Alan Clark, "Dictionary of British Comic Artists, Writers and Editors" (London: British Library, 1998) There is some very useful information on Reynolds in this dictionary, ...
