Gordon Livingstone Art for Women and Girls.
Peter Richardson is currently working on an article about the artist Gordon Livingstone who is, of course, best known for his many issues of DC Thomson's Commando. Unfortunately Peter is struggling to find examples of Gordon's early work for Thomson titles aimed at the girls' market. Does anybody kn...

Re: Which titles would you like to see indexed?
I would to to see a index of pocket library comics which have not been covered beforehand like Gemini 2000, star blazer etc I know some pocket library comics issues are rare and don’t often appear for sale so it’s hard to know how many are in the series As far as Starblazer is concerned DC Thomson ...

Re: Which titles would you like to see indexed?
Oh I'm greatly looking forward to your books as well Phoenix - in my opinion a Bunty index would just complement your own invaluable tome by focusing on the creative personnel, particularly the artists. Thinking about it a bit I'd also like to see New Hotspur and Hornet indexed someday, as well as T...

Re: Which titles would you like to see indexed?
It's great to hear that you haven't retired from indexing for good Kashgar as few people know so much about comics history - particularly the mid-20th century period which appeals to me most. I'd really love to see a Victor index of course, as well as a Bunty one (though maybe David Roach would be b...

Re: Preview Wizard issue.
I wonder if that's why Martin & Reid only published one issue of their own Magic Comic in 1948?

Re: Preview Wizard issue.
Fascinating! That sounds rather like the way in which DC comics produced a handful of so-called 'Ashcan' editions of forthcoming titles like Action Comics in order to register the trademark and logo during the 1930s. In the event, of course, the 'real' first issue of Action Comics made history by fe...

Could it have been the Legion of Super Slaves from Sally? I think it's from the right period.

Re: What comics DIDN'T you buy today?
I think DC comics relocated MAD magazine from New York to California under a new editorial regime last year, restarting its numbering in the process. The final issue of the 'old' MAD was #550 last February.

Re: Ron Smith RIP
It must be over forty years ago now that I first learned Ron's name when Bill Swinton, editor of the Beezer, informed me that the artist who drew 'Blood Brother's of the Spanish Main' had the rather ordinary name of Smith. But there was certainly nothing ordinary about Ron's talent. Yes, Ron was al...

I hope Mel is involved Comixminx - that would certainly mean they've gone to a good home (and I'm more than happy with the pages I did get).
