Re: Ron Smith

Thanks for the swift replies. I have often been confused about the lack of love for Ron Smith amongst fans and I guess the industry too. For me he was THE Judge Dredd artist. I would love to have seen him do some Superhero stuff for Marvel or DC back in the 80's. I never thought his stuff looked any...

Re: Ron Smith

Do you happen to know if Smith's King Cobra stuff has ever been collected or seen reprinted in any form?

Re: R.I.P Ferro Lad and Sohrab

On a dubious plus side Bucky Barnes and Jason Todd are now alive.see wikipedia if you are curious-saves reading some truely b*****ks comics. brian How very dare you! :x The return of Bucky via the Winter Soldier storyline by Ed Brubaker is a work of great skill. Ed is probably the best writer in su...

Commando Comics on Wikipedia

Guys the thing to remember is that Wiki do not do any of the work as such. If you do not like a write up then change it. I have altered one or two articles in the past. It is not that hard to do at all really. Wiki is well known for bias brought on by fans and foes alike but overall it is pretty good.

Collected Nemesis the Warlock

I never liked Nemesis. I think I was moving away from 2000AD at the time characters like him and Slaine just did not appeal to me at all. It's good to hear though that these collections are being produced for the fans though.

adverts in comics

When it comes to the adverts you simply cannot beat the American comics! What 10 year old British kid did not long for a Daisy Air Rifle or some sea monkies, let alone have the chance to earn prizes by selling "Grit" to neighbours and friends

Albion collection out

I thought the project as a whole was a frittered away opportunity. the concept was great but it was poorly executed in my opinion. One of the basic flaws for me was the fact that the "real" world was drawn in a more stylised fashion than the comic book world. they would have been far better to have ...

What comic related stuff did people get for Christmas

Comic wise I did well this year. I was given all five Essential Fantastic Four books and in the sales I managed to pick up the Beano, Dandy, Bash Street Kids and Dennis the Menace Annuals for 99p each (bargain). Non comic wise but related because it was a nostalgia type gift I also was given an Evel...

Comics Turn Up In The Most Unusual Places

This is another one of those comic character rather than comic book, things. I am listening to a repeat of Jonathon Ross' Saturday radio show and have just heard him exclaim "Oh my stars and garters". As many comic fans know this was the catch phrase of the X-mens Beast for many years.

May appear sexist, but bear with me.

In Almost all American comics everyone male or female is shown in an idealised form. All the blokes are like Arnie and all the girls are like Pammy Anderson. It's not sexist if both sexes are portrayed in the same way.

Comics Turn Up In The Most Unusual Places

Slightly on topic. Did anyone see QI the other week? As Jonathon Ross was on who is probably Britains most famous comic fan some of the questions were comic character related. Needless to say JR got most of these questions right.

Sad news indeed. His work on the Legion of Super Heroes and the X-Men was top quality stuff.

What DC Showcase book do you have and recommend...

How did I miss that? I am normally pretty up on these things. I am finding some odd choices in the Showcase range but I guess DC must know what they are doing. Any one here thinking of picking up Image's first essential style book featuring Savage Dragon? I am going to give it a go as this is a char...

What DC Showcase book do you have and recommend...

I hear that the Unknown Soldier is due for a release under the showcase banner early next year. That was one of my favourite non superhero titles as a youth. That will definately find a place on my shelf on release.
