Re: Ebay sales: Good price for the seller, buyer or both??

I don't think that is a bad price for the Captain Britain collection when you consider the inclusion of free gifts and the Cap's sister's 1st appearance. I paid £60 for the first two issues with free gifts a couple of years ago; another £60 for the superjet free gift in issue 24, and issue 8 with t...

Re: Why Are There No New Comics?

That article is completely US-centric, but the fact comics now sell thousands instead of millions has nothing to do with the direct market, considering the same thing has happened in the UK where comics are still on newsstands! ... Well, I have nothing but respect for the newsstands you're obviousl...

Re: Steve Dillon has died

I always think of him as the artist of Abslom Daak, Kroton the Cyberman, and all that stuff in Hulk Comic first and foremost-it really made an impact on me as a kid, and he was only about seven years older than me! Far, far too young to go.

Re: 2000AD - Prog 2000

I am totally baffled as to how to catalogue this, given that prog 2000 was also the number of the Christmas prog back in 2000.

Re: Alan Moore retiring from comics

I look forward greatly to all that Alan Moore does in the future, in whatever medium. However, it does seems evident to me that Alan Moore's issue with superheroes- the comics genre that made him famous, and possibly for what he will always be most well known- is a red herring: he had professed no ...

Re: Rebellion acquire Egmont's archive of strips and charact

Tim "Kelly's Eye" has of course appeared in 2000AD as the Universal Soldier. That, as with the 2000AD Action Special (which featured grim'n'gritty versions of the Steel Claw, Sid's Snake etc. - many hated it, I loved it), was published without consent from the copyright holders (IPC) as Egmont were...

Re: Rebellion acquire Egmont's archive of strips and charact

Lew - When you say the direct market would that be what Phoenix comic originally done i.e a comic with a dedicated print run for subscribers only? (excuse my ignorance)If so I could see that working and then of course in the case of Phoenix they have branched out into other selected shops, which is...

Re: Rebellion acquire Egmont's archive of strips and charact

Maybe a small niggly point but Whizzer & Chips was first printed in October 1969. It now belongs to Rebellion under this deal so I'm wondering whether the cut off is June 1969 which was mentioned a couple of times in Dez Skinn's Comics International magazine some years ago. This was supposedly the ...

If you're talking air aces, then nobody beats Battle's own Johnny Red, currently back in action courtesy of Titan Comics.

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Just received my copy of the mammoth Doctor Who Magazine #500, and one of te highlights is the comic strip, which resurrects a multitude of characters from the strip's past including Frobisher the penguin and the villainous Josiah W. Dogbolter. :D
