Re: Morris Heggie and Euan Kerr lecture in Glasgow tomorrow
I went. A nice surprise was that Jim Petrie was on-stage too, but didn't say much. (He did sign my copy of the Sparky annual 1979 though) Though the audience consisted 95 per cent of kids and their parents, the show was aimed at an adult audience as well, and came across as very frank about the ups ...

Wally Fawkes' Flook!
Am trying to collect strips of this great series that ran in the Daily Mail from 1949-84 and which surely desrves to be properly collected, but which is very hard to come by. My interest was first "piqued" by the 8 strips reprinted in the 1971 Penguin Book of Comics. Next I managed to get hold the o...

Dennis Gifford's cartoon work
hello, does anyone have any examples of Dennis Gifford's comic strip work? The very few excerpts I've seen look very intriguing! For example the piece reused for the cover of this 1990 BMX Bandits album: http://eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=239176 (clearly sourced from the copy of his "encyclo...

Re: jellymen
they work for me... to this list we can also add Bob Dewar's revival of the Jellymen for the 1996 Beezer annual, as recently posted by Peter Gray..managed to pick up a copy of that one at a garden centre last week, and it's got a distinctly enviromental slant..I had no idea the Jellymen had started ...

Re: somethng is not right
It was this forum's own Steve Bright that drew that Jock and Geordies revival: would love to hear his take on it! best of the D.C. Thomson parodies in Viz would have ot be Graham Dury's "w***er Watson": never reprinted due to legal threats but I managed to find the original comic and he does a great...

thanks a lot Peter for posting that so swiftly! A great tribute: I hope it helps increase awareness of Bob's contribution. Incidentally Bob is still active drawing for educational books and packages in Scotland, where he lives.

Re: How About a Bob Dewar page, Peter Gray?
To fully elaborate, I feel, I would need to post many lengthy scans from the comics..which I will strive to do in a seperate post. Suffice to say though, that with The combined Beezer and Topper title that ran from 1990-1993, there seemed to be a a real sense of experientation and fun that left the ...

Yeah.. that was "Sting", or as it was originally known, "The Beezers".
