Re: Rammie - A brand new football comic launches this week

Blimey! They don't call you 'grumpy old man' for nothing ha ha. Some interesting factors you have put forward, although I am sure that the guys who have put this comic together have put a considerable amount of time into research and development before releasing this product onto the marketplace. Th...

Re: Rammie - A brand new football comic launches this week

It would seem to be a Derby county thing only, I think (by looking at the website) that there is one for wolverhampton fans too, obviously called Woolfie or Wolvie or something and it may be the case that whichever club takes it on board will get there own. In my area the case would have to be 'Tyke...

Re: Rammie - A brand new football comic launches this week

WOW! What a fantastic idea! Although if I have to be frank I invented it 11 years ago when I was a kid and I drew a 'Bullboy' comic for the Bradford Bulls magazine but I think my team of superlawyers have advised me to drop this one seeing as this is football and my comic was for a Rugby League club...

Re: Tools of the trade!

Its double funny you should mention his artwork as its one of the reasons for me writing this! On the stuff I saw he used a shiney kind of paper, slightly laminated almost and your right his artwork is flawless, Im unaware of the kind of paper it was though. Most people tend to use bristol board but...

Re: Tools of the trade!

You can get some cheap lightboxes at Argos for around £40-£50 I think, thats if they are still there. I use them for my animations. This is fascinating, its great hearing all the different methods from you guys thank you very much, its a bit late for me to take your ideas on board for my current p...

Re: Tools of the trade!

Cheers for that, I do use a dippy pen and ink, the pen I use is used for calligraphy, which give me greater freedom with the line as the standard pen and ink pens, I found troublesome for curves or change in direction! I was surprised to see that a few Beano artists use fibre tip pens as I thought t...

Tools of the trade!

As some of you may or may not know I am studying the appeal of traditional british comics for my masters at university, as part of this I have created a comic of my own (watch this space, will post some soon for a crit!) I used a calligraphy pen and ink which gave me greater freedom with the lines (...

Re: black and white..could there be morecolour..other comicsused

If they print colour ones in the classic should they re-allign the colours with the black ink work? Not a crit, just wondering if its the wonky colour plate thats part of the charm for some people!

Indeed Lew, I wrote a line about that but I thought I may be repeating myself as I hate censorship

Re: Should corporal punishment be altered in Classics?

Homer Simpson strangles Bart Simpson and children and adults laugh along to it. Corporal punishment should NOT be altered, it annoys me that it was ended in the first place, bring it back I say lets see Dennis's Dad back in his stripey suit dishing out slipper! Kids are not sensitive to this sort of...

New Illustration Documentary BBC4 and the iPlayer

Given the close links between Comic artwork and Illustration for childrens books I saw this and thought it may be of interest to some of you guys, I have not seen it yet but if its as well presented as 'Comics Britannia' its bound to be a good viewing! http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00fd164/P...
