Re: What comics did you buy today?

Got one of the better Dandy Beano reprint books from today's car boot sale. DANDY BEANO Great stories from the first 50 years, well worth the pound I paid. You can't be accused of hanging about there, abacus, can you? I just checked my copy, and it only came out in 1990. I might read it when I come...

Got one of the better Dandy Beano reprint books from today's car boot sale. DANDY BEANO Great stories from the first 50 years, well worth the pound I paid. For me this relates to a time when Beano and Dandy had some amazing adventure stories and wonderful characters that are of far more interest tha...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Sometimes you get results when you least expect it. One of the charity shops I used to visit regularly was quite a bike ride away and I was finding it more difficult to find comics that I liked there, culminating in me finding nothing to buy on my last visit a month ago. I set out to visit the shop t...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

I often buy the bargain Marvel True Believers comics on wednesday's ( I now have 50 titles)but wasn't keen on today's offering so I didn't bother getting them. I'm not too keen on a lot of the modern comics however there are exceptions. Months ago while looking through the Forbidden Planet's 50p box...

Re: What comics DIDN'T you buy today?

As 'nicks' go that takes some beating! I would hate to see what a 'bad copy' looked like in his opinion. I'm not so sure, if comics finish up in the dustbin don't they then become collector's items ? :) Spine damage on annuals is quite common and I usually assess the damage when buying because some...

I was going to mention the missing full stop, but in the end I didn't see the point. :)

Re: What comics DIDN'T you buy today?

I have finally reached a position in which I don't really need any more story papers, either for boys or girls. However, I do tend to look in on 30th Century's website every couple of weeks or so, just on the offchance that I might be able to fill the odd gap or two. I think it's the completist wit...

Re: What comics DIDN'T you buy today?

What exactly was the point in going to the car boot, abacus, if you didn't feel like spending the £2 or even just the £1? In any case, you could have offered the £1. The vendor might have taken it given that he obviously wasn't expecting to get much for it anyway. Well! (a) This particular carboot ...

Re: What comics DIDN'T you buy today?

If I have what I might call an expensive spending week I tend to go into saving mode the following week. Last week I spent £34 on printing inks for my holiday photo's and also my son rang to say he had picked up 5 annuals for me , Tiger×2, Swift, Eagle, Lion so I needed to pay him £5. I'm not too ke...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Today's car boot sale smaller than I expected with fewer stalls than normal.
I don't buy many of the modern comics , even less so if they are parts of sets.
Spotted a bag of DC Forever Maelstrom comics for a £1
This was a 6 part set and all six comics were in the bag so I guess I had to buy them :D

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Holidaying in Ilfracombe. Coach trip to Bideford for 2 hours Spotted a charity book shop there so while the wife waited outside and found somewhere to sit I went in. Inside I found annuals with my type of prices pencilled inside the covers and had to check at the counter just to make sure these were...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Car boot day. The smell of the hot dogs the roar of the crowd. :) my childhood reading of comics ended in the 50's therefore I am not too familiar with what came afterwards. It would be probably 20 years later I started collecting comics and annuals. I was pleasantly surprised to come across POW ann...

Re: Free comic book day 2019- cant wait

Only 2 comics allowed on free comics day but this was not completely unexpected as Forbidden Planet only allowed 2 comics last year. Having previewed some of the comics the week before I knew roughly which comics I wanted. I got my priority comic which was Little Lulu a comic character from wayback ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Visited 3 carboot sales today which were smaller than normal due to the weather plus probably the fact the home team Leicester City kick off at 12. Bought--------- Learn to draw the Marvel Way pack , originally priced at 99p and including booklet , metal ruler , pen, pencil and eraser for 50p. Solom...
