Re: What comics did you buy today?
Visited two car boot sales today while melting in the heat of the sun and wondering why comic related material was as difficult to find as looking for a needle in a haystack. I picked up the Beezer 1966 annual for a £1 mainly because I couldn't find anything else. I did thoroughly search the stalls ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
The local sunday car boot sale has not really got started this year, with today's turnout limited to just a few stalls, perhaps it's the frosty start that put people off. Anyway I couldn't see much on the first wander around but decided to dig into two boxes that were topped with newspapers on my sec...

Re: Does your partner have any interest in your comics?
I Wonder why it is whenever I discover a great comic shop on holiday I am always pushed for time or the wife is impatient to move on?. When I was in cardiff I spotted a comic shop around the corner from the cafe where we had stopped for refreshments, she is always slow finishing her tea so I told he...

Re: Overlooked early children's comics
the 'St. Clares' series and the 'Malory Towers' series. I did not make it clear that unlike my collection of the 'Five' novels and the 'Adventure' series, which are all hardbacks with dustwrappers, my complete 'St. Clares' series and my 'Malory Towers' series are all in paperback format. The prices...

Re: Overlooked early children's comics
Many children's comics have free gifts and as you know collectors like to keep these gifts intact, but I'm not so sure this is always wise. Around 2017 I bought the 1997 comic shown from a charity shop so as you can see it was quite old when I bought it. It had sweets as the free gift and these were...

Re: Overlooked early children's comics
Talking of Enid Blyton I found the Big Enid Blyton Book at a car boot sale a couple of years ago containing a variety of many of her short stories, I bought it to get a flavour of the varied work she produced. I have it stored somewhere but looking around yesterday failed to find it. I seem to recal...

Overlooked early children's comics
My hobby is collecting old comics , magazines, old books( victorian for example)and annuals . usually spending an average of £2 per week with a limit of £5. I could spend more but for me this is just a fun loose change type hobby. I tend to overlook nursery comics but these shown from the 1959/60s I...

Re: Bits and Pieces
On holiday I found comics for sale in Exmouth indoor market .I concentrated on two bargain £1comic boxes the stallholder had and spent a massive, gigantic £14 on 14 comics, as shown. While I was flicking through the Captain Victory (Pacific Comics) comic impressed with the artwork the stallholder tol...

Re: Bits and Pieces
The day before I went on holiday my son came around and told me he had ordered me some comics. He doesn't know a lot about comic collecting and doesn't always choose comics that I would select but then again freebies are freebies so I shouldn't complain. When I arrived back from holiday the comics ha...

Re: Bits and Pieces
Several months ago , the Sue Ryder shop in town had a box full of Bobo Bunny nursery comics which I gave a passing interest to but wasn't interested enough to buy any. Thereafter on other visits to the shop I haven't seen them on display. Mysteriously today they were back in the shop. As a collector...

Each fortnight I've been collecting 80's U.S.comics from the charity shop I visit .However in the past few months I have picked up some U.K comics as shown in the first pic. The Playbox comics I got from a car boot sale with 5 books and a couple of old magazines , one of the books being The Golden B...
