Re: Help identifying a mystery comic from the 1990s

My mistake there sorry, I missed the 1993-5 bit. You DO have me wondering now, though!

Re: Help identifying a mystery comic from the 1990s

Cosmic, perhaps? A spin-off from Time Out, which had a mix of comics and puzzles and, yes, occassional articles. Articles based on history and space in early issues, and based on pop stars and films in later issues. One of the flagship characters was called Talista, a girl who could travel through t...

Re: Helping the Youngsters

Well, the kid came in today and he seems to've liked the Dandys I gave him. I asked him whether he liked the old ones or the new ones best and he said he liked them both the same, thus concluding my extensive market research. Meanwhile, someone in his late 40's was standing around later on when he s...

Re: What Comic Would You Like Out There?

True, yes... But with it just being paper and not a plastic spider or whatever, it could stay at £2.99 a week or something, like those comic value packs they used to do in the Nineties.

Re: What Comic Would You Like Out There?

Had a great idea yesterday... You know those magazines that are out every year, the ones where you buy the first issue for 99p and all the rest are increasingly expensive so that over a course of time you can build a model of James Bond's car or something? Well how about one of those called "British...

Helping the Youngsters

So, there's a small child who is a regular at my shop, and he's the only kid who buys the Dandy from us (it gets put away from him each week). He loves it, which is nice, but today I gave him a pile of Dandys from 1991-1997, around twenty of them. He seemed really excited to see them, so I'll see wh...

Re: What is your favourite comic - still being produced

The one I get the most enjoyment out of these days is Viz - never really been into adventure stories (bar Sonic The Comic and Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles), and the modern Beano and Dandy are missing a certain something... But Viz is always a reliable one to go to. Hasn't really changed all THAT much...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Bah, I was in Manchester on Saturday and didn't visit the comic mart! Though to be fair it was one of the rare instances when my fiancee joined me on my excursion into town and I don't think she would've appreciated it somehow... Forbidden Planet and Travelling Man were quite enough for her. Ah, pi...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

There were quite a few things that some Comics UK forumeers might have liked at Manchester's comic mart today: lots of '70s Beanos, Dandys, Hotspurs and Wizards at 50p each, near mint-looking Dandys from - I think - circa 1960 at £3 each, quite a few of the early only-for-sale-in-Scotland run of Vu...

Re: Horror 'Toons

Veering slightly off-topic, but Lew's Fahrenheit 451 allusion just brought to mind a disturbing jigsaw I had as a small kid. The completed picture showed a bonfire night scene, featuring a group of loveable fluffy bunnies dancing gleefully around a blazing fire, atop which a fox was slowly being co...

Re: Comic Relief Comic

Yeah, saw that as well. Do a search for "Comic Relief Comic" then add it to your saved searches, the seller'll probably re-list it and you'll get an email when they do.

(It wasn't me selling it by the way!)

There is, but I work 13-day weeks - finding the time to get to the library is also a hindrance!
