Re: 2012 Annuals

i hope the beano & dandy books go back to normal size as last years dont fit on my shelves properlyas they were slightly bigger Sorry, but they're going to be the same size as the 2011 dated ones. (That's the size I was told to draw to anyway.) At least that's an improvement from last year, when yo...

Re: 2012 Annuals

Actually, the 50 Golden Years books used the next logo, used on the weekly comic from 1984 to 1987, and the Comic Libraries until 1993. It wasn't out of date on the 50 Years Young stamp, as the logo was still in use at the start of the year. I had to look really closely to spot the difference betwe...

Re: 2012 Annuals

Regardless, I think it probably already was present in digital form, as this logo appeared on all of the '50 Golden Years' books and their sequels up to the 60th anniversary, squashed to fit across the masthead with a similarly squashed Beano logo. It also appeared in a distorted form on the "50 Yea...

Re: 2012 Annuals

Where are these assumptions about a book that hasn't been published yet? Everything I can see can be reasonably extrapolated from the cover. They're in Lew's head. As usual. The use of a 70's logo does seem a bit odd, mind you. Wasn't it using the 2004-revamp-style logo before? Not quite; annuals a...

Re: Fan art

You can also rub out flaws and blemishes caused by faulty inking after scanning them and using the eraser function in Photoshop or whatever. Yes, that's what I usually end up doing, too, but it doesn't make it less annoying. And lines drawn with a mouse are always discernible from those originally ...

Re: 2012 Annuals

You know, this increasing complaining about nebulous concepts of "nit-picking" in response to every litttle comment made about things that the Dandy and the Beano have done is getting bizarre. Bonus points for complaining about it in an obscure place on a completely irrelevant thread - that really s...

Re: Should auld acquaintance be forgot

p.s. The "British" tag always jarred with me. A made up term to encompass 4 different countries and cultures. You can't be one and the other at the same time. Freedom for all , I say. Speak for yourself. Personally, I don't relish the prospect of having to show a passport and have my baggage search...

Until you make a mistake, that is, particularly with inking. Just one of the many circumstances in which I have wished that real life had an Undo button.

Re: This weeks Dandy

I reckon the Dandy's seen common sense and is losing the hideous over-reliance on celebrity appearances which propped up so many of the early issues. Harry Hill and Justin Beaver have developed into good, well-rounded comic strips in their own right, but I must say I wasn't sorry to see the back of ...

Re: Roger the Dodger, #3583

Oh, dear, I do hope Al doesn't ban him, then. We need him to offer the only truly valid opinions on how the Beano is uncompromisingly the best comic that ever was, is or will be. Do you ever buy any comics that you do like? I prefer the Beano to the attitude of certain members on this forum (which ...

Re: I found a reliable trigger for the 'Internal Server Erro

I've just successfully reproduced it again. It's most definitely something to do with the exact byte sequence of the file. Firefox appears to be trying to be too clever, and destroying the original information. My file is 44,618 bytes long - yours is about 10,000 shorter, so it's obviously been reco...

Re: I found a reliable trigger for the 'Internal Server Erro

Well, I don't know what the new Firefox browser did, but it was supposed to be a PNG, not a GIF! That's almost certainly why it worked.

I found a reliable trigger for the 'Internal Server Error'!

I was trying to post my pictures (such as they were) in the 'Fan art' thread, when the forum crashed in the middle of uploading them. Such is life, I thought, and tried again. And it crashed again. I've now tried several times, and this particular picture never fails to cause a 500 when I click 'Add...
