Re: Why Collect?

I collected comics simply because I enjoy reading them :)

The Nipper Index

:soapbox: Bit of an advertisement (hope you don't mind) but for anybody interested in Nipper comic, IPC's short-lived pocket comic from the late 1980's, I've written an online book called The Nipper Index - a history book on the comic. It also features a complete list of all the strips that appeared...

Atomic Comic #3

I'm pleased to announce :soapbox: that a third issue of Atomic Comic is in the works. :) I only plan to include one interview in this issue but it's an exciting one - any guesses? I'm currently working on it but production will be a little slow due to recent events, but I look forwards to releasing ...

Re: Britain's Worst Comic

Target from the late 1970s. I picked up a couple of issues a few years back and remember being very disappointed - badly drawn strips on cheap paper. I haven't looked at them for a few years so happy to be corrected if i'm wrong. I have issues #2 and #3 of Target. Yes they're cheaply made and the c...

Re: Origins?

Of course the biggest comic would be The Big One, measuring 14&1/2" x 21&1/2"!

Re: Fanzines

Thanks for all the additional information - I'm working with John Freeman and a few others to put together a more complete, and ordered, list, so I'll add the information on there. :D By the way, a quick way to search for a title is to press: command + f (on Mac) F3 (on Windows) and type in the...

Fanzines

Here, for no particular reason, is a list of every British fanzine I know of. The list is in no particular order (I don't have time to order it!) and includes information such as run dates, no. of issues etc. Has anybody got any titles they can add? Or any comments about fanzines in general? I've al...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

16th February 1985 - Revamp issue Well, that revamp can't have done any good. Seven issues and eaten by Eagle. "Big News for all readers inside", says the 30 March 1985 issue. As I recall that final revamp was done solely to make it more compatible to merge into Eagle. That's what I was thinking - ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Re: when did Easter/April Fools/Halloween/Fireworks issues e

Thanks for sharing the cover Babington, it's fantastic. I'd say that fireworks issues were continuing into the 1980's, although admittedly the fireworks were generally at a safe distance from the characters. And of course, there was the 2011 Dandy fireworks issue. As for Easter and Halloween, I'm su...

In the most recent episode of Top Gear, the second part of the Burma Special, Jeremy Clarkson can be seen shaving with a Beano toiletries bag on the table.

Re: Adventure Comic - Help with numbers?!

Many publications list numbers from the first page in a volume - i.e. the first page of vol. 2 would be page 1, and then the first page of the second issue (let's say each issue is 8 pages) would be page 9 etc... this could be what this is? I'm not too sure though but that's my guess.

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Just got a box of Shiver and Shake comics. Approx. 45 comics for $20NZD. That's roughly £10, so a good deal. :D
