Re: Not Known to Exist?
Thomsons certainly have a copy of 'The Boys Holiday Book' in their archives somewhere, Derek. If we include the British Library collection they actually have copies of the three 'Kiddies Box of Books' (1933-1935) and the first edition of 'Kiddies Playtime' (1936) but not the second. Not that that h...

Re: Film Fun comic 1
Wow! Comic Cuts #1. There are supposed to only be 8 known to exist. I've seen a couple go at auction over the last 3 or 4 years and they were between £400 and £600 ish if I remember. They were too rich for me at the time, that's all I was sure about! Thinking again on prized parts of my collection,...

Re: Film Fun comic 1
Unlucky with the Kinema #1. It wasn't me honest! I believe you. Whats your most expensive buy and/or your most prized comic? Sorry, it was me this time Hawkeye. It just seemed quite a bargain for such a curious No1. The famously poor relation to Film Fun which I already have the first issue of. Reg...

Re: Film Fun comic 1
Most expensive buy was Commando #1 in great condition, the most by a very long way and fairly recently. Prized......too many jump to mind! Some are prized as I remember buying them as a child so they hold a special place. Others, I get a real kick out of the artwork/age/condition/history/storyline/...

I've come to the point where every one I want would require me to remortgage my house I'm afraid.Kashgar wrote:How far did you get with your Beano and Dandy collection and your Broons and Oor Willie book collection? Are they both still ongoing?

Re: Addie and Hermy in the Dandy
£661 including buyers premium !!! Thank you, Hawkeye. I did expect it to go for a high price because in over thirty years of collecting I have only ever seen one other, and that is the one I bought on eBay the best part of a decade ago for £170. Incidentally, I used that authentic issue as the back...

Fun Book for Boys DC Thomson
I went through a phase of collecting obscure DC Thomson/John Leng books a while ago, like Zoom, 25 Star Stories, Mounties, Speed etc, and one in particular called the Fun Book for Boys. There were 2 actually in the series, 1937 and 38 I think they were issued. I managed to find the first one, with E...

Re: Addie and Hermy in the Dandy
I've got early issues (in double figures at least) of all the big 5 except the Wizard. I wonder why they don't appear as often as the others. Apart from issue 1 on Compalcomics recently, which sold for the price of a small country. How much did that first issue sell for, Hawkeye? I did intend to fo...

I saw the Rocket after it had ended, looked a nice comic, well done !!Adam Eterno wrote: On top of that, I picked up The Rocket #1 from the same seller a couple of weeks ago so typing this has made me think that I probably won't go for the Kinema #1 now!.

Re: Addie and Hermy in the Dandy
I have some Sunday Post Fun Sections with Nero and Zero in them - mid seventies I think. I collected it every week until they ruined it by printing the strips on two separate pages. Nero and Zero were also in Buzz I think - a half page strip drawn by Tom Bannister? According to my hit list, Nero an...

Re: Addie and Hermy in the Dandy
A sort of prequel to the Addy and Hermy strip came in the form of a 'serial' in the Desperate Dan strip in Dandy issues 100-106 in which Dan encountered the pair. If you don't mind my asking Hawkeye are you a latecomer to collecting or just very interested historically in comics and characters that...
