Re: What comics did you buy today?

O.K. you've stumped me with Bruce of Scotland. Needless to say it's not listed in the British guide, nor can I find any mention of it or Junior Press on any of my go to info. sites. Is there an indicia or any little detail inside that might help? You've got me curious, again. Any chance of a note of...

Re: Tommy's Troubles

Had a look at your blog, Nikos. I can't read Greek but it is noticeable the number of Bonelli titles you show and chat about. Mind you, the giveaway is calling it "blekmagazine". There are also some well known French characters in there. I've been a fan of Mr. No for a long time and bought the origi...

Re: The Silent Majority/Minority?

I started reading comics around mid '50's, so a long career on the word balloon front. I had no clue about comic fandom till I attended the first Glasgow comic con/mart in the '80's. Even then, I met fellow fans and all we did was chat amongst ourselves, read and swap comics. Finally a group of us g...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

At the Glasgow mart today, I bought (and in one case, traded for) some old British comics. 3 x WDL reprints; Lone Ranger # 21; Roy Rogers & Trigger # 65; Gene Autry & Champion # 12. A Miller reprint of a Charlton - Rocky Lane's Black Jack. True Life Adventures #14, published by Mans World Comics. I ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Actually yesterday, when I visited Bannjaxx Comics in Stirling. I bought The Wildstorm #1 & 2 (Warren Ellis); Red Sonja #6; Batwoman #3 (and I think that's going to be my last issue as I find it depressing); Batman/Shadow #3 (weird, menacing, mysterious, haven't a clue where this is going but I'll k...

Re: Bulldog Brittain

Hi matrix. All I can tell about this slightly obscure comic is that the guide says there were 3 issues in 1952, numbered 1,2,3 - so that's a load of old cobblers  - with art on Bulldog Brittain by Colin Andrew. I don't have any issues from the series, don't even have a scan, nor can I find a ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Yes indeed. Bloke in a wee boat watching an alien vessel rising from the water. The book price was 2/6 and bears the small cover circle, " COMIC BUREAU APPROVAL SEAL" Ditko was so good.

Re: Glasgow Comic Con

What a good day out. A real comic con and no sign of tv stars, wrestlers or movie folk. There was a wide choice of signings from well known names from British and American comics, to small press. A decent dealers room with some dealers who had offers that interested even me. The Concert Hall cafe/ba...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Like Colin I was at the Glasgow con. Unlike Colin, I was not restrained in my spending. I also got some Commando comics, 3, courtesy of starscape, who was also at the con. More to the point, I bought the following:- 3 x WDL reprints, Zane Grey's Drift Fence; Red Ryder #22; Tales of the Texas Rangers...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

I've bought a few Doctor Who reprint books this week. Titan's 3rd Doctor - Heralds of Destruction; Panini's Emperor of the Daleks collection, which is a great read and I'm only half way through; Panini's The World Shapers, which I bought this afternoon. While in my local comic shop, I had a look at ...

Re: One-Eyed Jack's back!

I bought my copy of the Diana Avengers book from Deadhead in Edinburgh when they had a table at the E/B Con. I also bought a few other G.N.'s from them as they are relatively local, they're not F.P. and even though I already had digital copies of the stories, I was supporting a local business. Also,...

Re: British comics adapted into live action film and TV

Ah, now, The Bogie Man! I have a bit of history with that. My partner of the time in the shop was closely involved along with the late, greatly missed, all round nice guy, George Jackson, in the comic. Needless to say, not a lot of comic shop work was forthcoming from my partner for a bit. And when ...
