Re: Another appeal for help in finding a serial

I've made the suggestion of Legion of Super Slaves, so have to wait and see if that is right. In the meantime as the other title Cassie remembers reading was June and Schoolfriend I've had a look through the ones I own from late 60s but I only have a couple and doesn't appear in those issues (11 Dec ...

Re: Another appeal for help in finding a serial

It does sound very distinctive, I would think I'd remember if I read it but nothing is springing to mind, hopefully someone will be able to help.

Re: Search for Story in Annual

True if you are reading a lot of these annuals in a row, the "she was a ghost all along" seems over done. Although I do find it interesting that movies like "The Sixth Sense" and "The Others" were praised for such a twist when they came out, maybe viewers hadn't read the dozens of stories with that ...

Just to pass on David's thanks too, he was very grateful

That was often the case with these short spooky stories, ending on the twist reveal. I suppose that leaves the bigger impact but it also leaves a lot of questions.

Re: Search for Story in Annual

Thank you so much Goof! I was suspecting it could be a Mandy annual as it had some creepy stories in the 80s. Any chance of a scan of the story, if not it's okay I'm sure person will be happy to know what book it is.

Search for Story in Annual

I've had a query about a story from annual on my site that I and others have tried to track down with no luck yet. The initial question was as follows: "I live in Canada and every Christmas between 1978-1987 my grandmother would send me and my siblings Beano, Dandy, Twinkle and Beezer annuals. For a...

Re: Maria Dembilio

So I've emailed Jenni the scans as it was a bit easier than uploading here, though if any others are interested I can upload here too.

As well as the two Let Me Be episodes, I also sent on the whole Mystery Boy story from M&J #243-249 and a complete story Stupid Cupid from #249.

Re: Maria Dembilio

I should have two more episodes of "Let Me Be" from #297 & #299, so I should be able to scan those in the next few days. I think I also have some complete stories I could add too, I'll have a look.

Re: The Comp

Philcom actually posted that last episode of the Comp for me in an earlier thread, I hadn't been familiar with the Nikki comics at the time either so also some Nikki episodes there.

Re: Phoenix's Future Plans

I've been through the contents of every box without finding a single SPELLBOUND. That's because they were already in the house, hiding under a couple of yearsworth of BUNTY. I'm only missing issue 65 (December 17 1977). If anyone is prepared to scan or photocopy their issue 65, I will be delighted ...

Re: Phoenix's Future Plans

I scanned a bunch of comics and sold them, was in need of space. Couldn't you have made one or two large piles criss-crossed in years, Lorraine, in order to avoid selling them. Worth considering [...] I'm assuming that Ruby is roughly two years old by now, hopefully developing within normal paramet...

Re: Phoenix's Future Plans

My partner probably buys more books than me, so we are well matched! Though we have done a bit of a clear out in the last year. I scanned a bunch of comics and sold them, was in need of space. Of course at different stage of life, toddler takes up lots of space despite being so small!

Some great examples of artwork, I am not as confident or knowledgeable about attributing artists but nice to see them getting named.

Re: Phoenix's Future Plans

With only those missing, it means you have an impressive number of girls comics! The closest I think I have to full collection is M&J which is about 20 short. Though when it gets to the stage of tracking individual issues it gets harder!
