Re: American Titans vs British Minnows?

Why have British comics never created superheroes in the mould of Superman & Co? Is it because British superheroes are just too reserved? By the way - Nick Brennan is a misunderstood genius. Especially after a few pints.

 And here was me thinking, upon seeing that Kev F had posted on this thread, that I was about to be accused of being un unashamed, blatant self-publicist.

For anyone with nothing better to do, it can be listened to again through Radio 5 Live's web...

John Geering

Among other things, John was an actor, and had an early role in Coronation Street as a relative of Elsie Tanner's (may have been her son).

He was also instrumental in the creation and design of Ken Dodd's Diddymen.

J.C. Hughes was the man you're looking for, Andy. Though I can't tell you any more than that I'm afraid. I never met him and don't know anything about him. Perhaps some of the more 'mature' office-bearers at DCT Towers might be able to tell us more? His style was very distinct, and not the most fun ...

Comics

Generally you'd probably be best to make the character approximately the same age as the readers you're aiming it at, Angel. But if you look at the most popular comics in the UK (Beano and Dandy), you'll see that they come in all ages, shapes and guises, from Baby Bea (Beano) and Cuddles & Dimples (...
