Unused Ball Boy script
I found an envelope full of letters from various DC Thomson editors yesterday. I was submitting artwork in the 1970s. Among them were a couple of Ball Boys scripts I'd written and drawn (they preferred scripts to be sketched out). Sadly my artwork wasn't up to scratch and the script was rejected as ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
At the city market a stall had a bunch of old comics this morning , mainly US plus a number of Alan Class comics. Many of the US comics looked their age but at a £1 each were still a bargain. I limited myself to £5's worth and got-------- Yosemite Sam 1973 Action comics 1974 Lois Lane 1964 Worlds F...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Re my previous post can anyone put their hands on Whoopee issues dated 5th and 19th April 1975. I need to confirm the page count. Mine have 28 pages. I thought IPC comics had 32. The next issue has 32 pages but it has a centre spread pin-up which is advertised on the cover. There is no pin-up advert...

Re: Bill Titcombe
Next Kempton Park antique fair is next Tuesday (8th). I can't imagine the Titcombe art being there again. But I'll take a big bag anyway.

Re: Bill Titcombe
In primary school I sat at the front and remember Mr. Parker once continually kicking the legs of my chair until it came out from under me and I ended up sitting on the floor. If I'd told my dad he would have came down and given the teacher a good hiding. My dad was a tough Millwall supporting dock ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
My parents bought me those for Christmas when they were published, I still have them. My dad died in 1972 so they have sentimental value. I also have a toy Winchester rifle he bought me from Deptford High Street in the late sixties. I picked it out in the shop window and remember it was £2.10.6d.

Re: Bill Titcombe
I was pretty intelligent at school and came top of the class one year. I didn't mind doing PE in primary school but spent four years avoiding it in secondary school with forged notes from mum. Hated the idea of communal showers.

Re: Bill Titcombe
"You should have" should have had a different last word "of" but whenever I submit it it is corrected to "have". Most annoying.

Re: Bill Titcombe
An ex colleague once told me he was chatting to a female colleague and my name cropped up, he said she said "Oh, Steve, he's Aspergers". I do remember her once saying "You should have" and I said "you mean should have". That could be an indication of Aspergers, being blunt with people. Also a manage...

Re: Bill Titcombe
I hate Iit when sellers don't put prices on items. They must lose a lot of custom from people like me who don't like to ask the price as they find it uncomfortable to turn away when it's too high. My social anxiety makes it difficult to engage with strangers anyway. If it's there next time I'll try ...

Bill Titcombe
At Kempton Park antique fair yesterday someone had a large wooden framed original art of three "Perils of page 3 Pauline" strips. From the News of the World and drawn by Bill Titcombe of TV Comic fame. It was signed at the bottom by the writer and Bill. No price on it but it was too big for me to ca...

Re: Hi everybody
Welcome to comics UK. I do a lot of indexing on GCD now I'm retired. You can find me as Stephen Mitchell. I always regret starting to index a comic like Whizzer and Chips because, two hours later, I'm still working through it. Most of the 70s IPC comics are like that. It's adding the first line and ...
