Wildcat did merge with Eagle. Loner was the big strip in it. The US sized Eagle comics released the collected edition.
And Warrior is possibly Britain's greatest comic. Thoroughly recommended!

At last, at STARSCAPE webcomic (http://www.StarscapeComic.co.uk), we have the first installment of one of the most wonderful strips in recent British comics history. The Guard Dogs moves in to full colour against the Twig Boy as told by Jason Quinn (Spider-Man, Commando, Power Rangers, Tom & Jerry) ...

Published in 1990 by Fleetway, it was called the Classic Action Holiday Special. http://cgi.ebay.com/Classic-Action-Holiday-Special-Fleetway-1990-NM_W0QQitemZ6618245017QQcategoryZ3964QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting The one you're referring to is a completely different publication with much darker (a...

Two of my favourite specials there in Revolver Romance and Action (actually there were two of those - one I loved but it was very dark with the Spider being a cannabilistic psychopath, the other I thought was a bit dull with Robot Archie on the cover). Chris PS apologies for not linking the Starhawk...

There was some kid in Tiger (possibly Roy of the Rovers) who was lame but it meant he could shoot incredible banana shots. Possibly Marvel's mutants if you want to look at it that way. The Black Racer from the New Gods. Should get double points for being black and severely disabled. That's about it.

We've gone Marvel mad this month at Starscape. Not only can you enjoy the first installment of the fanfic starring Thor as he begins his journey to the multiple Earths of the DC Universe (first up against the classic Kirby creation of Orion and the New Gods) but you can also view the moments after t...

I once looked into the possibility of licensing the Look-In Space 1999 strips but they are now owned (although they probably don't know that) by IPC/DC Comics.

Blackhawk from Tornado/2000AD. Amazing how the word 'Black' comes into it so much. Never realised Darkie's Mob had a blackman as the lead. Without colour, I'd just assumed he was white! Sheez, some name (does the name imply or reject racism by the writer?). There was a discussion recently where DCs ...

I had to pull out at the last minute, so all the Brit comics I would have been bringing stayed in storage I'm afraid.
I'll be there at Brighton though, where Collected Hook Jaw will be launched.

There is a Mangaquake out there, though it's not on the shelves.
Took the 1980s until Brits could write good superhero comics (well, I suppose Chris Claremont and John Byrne were born here), so maybe in the 2030s we can write some decent manga!

You're comparing comics aimed at two completely different markets. Private Eye is aimed at adults, whilst most UK humour comics of the past 100 years have been aimed at children. That's why I liked them as a child but don't find them remotely amusing anymore. And I never criticised the art or the f...
